Is there any reason I should give this phone a 3rd chance?

Long story short, I bought the Rezound using an upgrade. I really liked everything about the phone except for the horribly crappy battery life. A couple of people suggested I flash CleanRom on the phone and it would fix the battery life. I didn't want to void the warranty on a phone that was still in the return period so I returned the phone, bought another one off CL, unlocked the bootloader and flashed the ROM.

After a week and a half, I can say that I'm 75-80% sure that it solved the battery issues. Between this ROM and simply plugging the phone into a charger while I'm in the car, the battery problem seems to be solved. However, this phone now has a bigger issue.

I have Setting Profiles set to flip the phone into silent mode and turn airplane mode on when I'm in church services for obvious reasons. Twice it's done this and when it has, the phone becomes unresponsive. In other words, I can press the power button and the screen briefly flashes the lock screen, then goes dark. Twice I have performed a battery pull and all was well. Today I didn't do the battery pull as the phone is set to come out of airplane mode and power back on at a certain time and I figured I would just let it. Problem is that when it did, it wiped my phone to factory defaults and I was looking at a setup wizard.

Perhaps this was a random thing. Perhaps not. I figured I would do some testing. So when I got home, I logged in with my Google account with the intent to download Titanium Backup from the Market (the Play??) and restore all my apps and settings for testing purposes. Then I discover that when the phone reset, it wiped the SD card completely. Toasted it. Music is gone. Backups are gone. Pictures are gone. Everything is freaking gone. I'm sorry, but I find this unacceptable. I can see how a phone might freak out and wipe itself. I get that. Heck, an OTA update might unintentionally cause that. Fine. That's what I've got backups for. When the phone wipes the SD card as well though, that is insanely ridiculous. Is there any reason I should give this phone a 3rd chance or am I better off switching back to my DInc2 and just being happy w/3G, a crappier camera and a crappier screen?

More problems than a man should have to deal with. I'm stock and have had zero battery problems. Better battery life with the same use on my Dinc even. I do put my phone in airplane mode at concerts and such and haven't experienced any problems there either. Are you certain the problem is the phone and not perhaps the flashed rom? All I know for certain is I'm sorry man.. nobody should have to deal with the grief you described. bummer!

The battery life is better compared to the DInc. I'm comfortable saying that. It's not better compared to the DInc2 though.

I performed more testing this afternoon. I set up Setting Profiles to turn on the profile I am using for Church for a few minutes and then turn it off again. It made the screen do the thing it was doing in service this morning and it wiped the phone and SD card when it came out of the profile just like earlier. I still have no clue why it is doing this, but it's definitely repeatable. I think I'm done with this phone for good this time. :( I can't deal with all the crazy no matter how good she is in the sack.

It occurs to me that I may have problems getting back to stock since the stock image I had was on the SD card that got wiped. I haven't flashed a custom recovery though. Will help me out here?

I have not had these issues stock either, I just downloaded an app that quickly switches my phone from silent, to vibrate, to regular, because I didn't like how difficult it was to do it normally.

The salesgirl in the Verizon shop told me to hit the volume down button all the way and it goes into the silent/vibrate mode.

My problem is I'll forget and it'll ring in the middle of church service so I set it up to do it automatically.

Have you by chance tried any other apps that do automatic settings? I've never had issues with local.

I find it funny you're blaming the phone, yet the only thing you seem to have an issue with is Setting Profiles.

I've used Setting Profiles on two different phones with no issues. I use it on this phone and it wipes the phone and the SD card. Why should I not blame the phone?

I would suggest turning the phone off when getting to church and on when leaving.

That's a wonderful idea if I remember. I'm absent minded and I won't. That's why apps that do this for me are extremely useful. That is when they don't format the phone and SD card in the process.

Um, 3rd time is a charm?? Sucks that people are having trouble with this phone, if you get one that works its an amazing phone. I got mine release day with a 3.8 battery and its been perfect.

Sell the Rezound, use your upgrade again for the razr. Bettery battery life stock than the rezound rooted. And if you want truley good battery life and are willing to shell out 300 bucks, get the Razr Maxx.

I use and highly recommend "Shush! Ringer Restorer" by Public Object
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...GwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5wdWJsaWNvYmplY3Quc2h1c2giXQ..

It is free and does exactly what you are looking for! Turn the volume all the way down using the volume control rocker and the app starts up and allows you to set the amount of time in minutes/hours you want the ringer off. After the set time, the ringer comes back on!

p.s. I have no affiliation other than I'm a very happy user :)

I'm very happy with Shush! as well! It's worked flawlessly for me! And convenient, just pops up when you turn your ringer all the way down.

I have to manually silence my phone when I arrive somewhere that requires it, for my ADD/ADHD brain, it is the only way I will remember! I don't trust an app to do it.

I got to play with a Razr today and I can honestly say that I really hated Blur. Hated it.

That's kind of what Shush does. You manually silence the phone, and a pop up lets schedule when to automatically unsilence it. :D

comes in handy. I hadn't downloaded it to my new phone right away, and I forgot to unsilence my ringer and ended up missing a call and text from my wife.

This is what I've done for years with my cell phones phones. It seems to be standard. It's certainly the easiest way to put the phones in a quiet mode when you need it.
