Is there some sort of auto hibernate mode?

Hello all,

Does anyone know of there being a hibernate or auto sleep mode? Here's what I've noticed yesterday and today:

I store my Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (that I just got Friday evening) in a locker while at the office. It gets a fraction of 3G in that location, so I keep it in airplane mode. I could just turn it off but I assumed it didn't drain a lot of battery that way and would be faster to get back online when I just step outside for a minute to check messages.

However, yesterday and today, I put it in the box at around 7-8am with about 80% battery. When I come out during the 10 o'clock hour, I reach in the locker, pull it out, and it's going through the startup animation. Yesterday I assumed the worst; someone was tampering with it. Today when it did the exact same behavior, I'm thinking the phone is doing it.

Here's my assumption: It's programmed to go into standby (or hibernate, or sleep, or shut down, etc) when the accelerometer (or other sensors) detects 0 movement in X amount of time and X amount of battery has drained. When sensor detects movement again, it starts up.

This would prevent me from stupidly draining my battery and being stuck without my smartphone, which would suck, and I like the feature, I would rather have known about it prior to going all paranoid yesterday.

Thanks for listening...
