Is this a problem with the rom or with the phone?

Sometimes the screen seems to lose sensitivity to touch. Apps don't respond to a single or even a second touch sometimes. I have to tap away at it and it finally works, but sometimes not and I have to reboot the phone. Often by pulling the battery since the touch screen doesn't respond.

When texting sometimes the keyboard goes wacky and random letters I didn't even touch start lighting up like I pressed them and the random letters appear on the screen. Once again I just get frustrated and reboot the phone. That doesn't always work though.

When I first installed this rom (CM 7 stable release) it worked without a hitch. So I don't know if this is a rom issue or if this Hero is becoming a Zero.

I would suggest you boot into recovery first. Once there, you can clear the cache and go into Advanced and clear Dalvik cache.

That might fix your problems. If not, then follow the above suggestion, but be sure to do a Nandroid backup first, and then do a full wipe of everything and then reflash the ROM and GApps.

Thanks to both of you. Doing a full wipe of everything and flashing a nightly might be the trick if if wiping the cache and Dalvik cache doesn't work. Even with Titanium Backup I would still have to set much of the system up right? That is a pain in the butt.

Yea you will have to resetup if you do a full wipe but not if you only wipe cache and davlik. You can flash the nightly over the original with only wiping cache and davlik as well. But a full wipe might be your best bet just to ensure a clean slate and nothing leftover to interfere. If the simple cache and davlik wipe doesn't work.

So far wiping the cache and dalvik seems to have fixed the problem. If it happens again I will just wipe and start over. Hopefully it won't come to that.

That is good to hear. Hopefully, it solves your issue.

A full wipe is a bit more involved, but it is not that bad. Plus, it is always worth it if you are doing it to get rid of annoying glitches.
