Is this normal for a battery?

So I've been playing around with my new Fascinate, and noticed something odd.

Whenever I plug the phone in to charge it, the battery jumps up about 20%(at least, according to apps like Battery Left and Battery Widget). I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Is it just a bug in the apps(my initial thought) that increases the battery percentage when plugged in? Or is it something to do with the battery itself?

Also, I'm curious if the battery life I'm getting is normal. The battery seems to last about 3.5 to 5 hours(depending on use) of actual use with brightness turned down to the minimum, managing 3g/wifi, and no apps syncing AFAIK. From what I've read that sounds about normal, but I'm not entirely sure.

I'd appreciate any help.

um 3.5 hours from 100%? Sorry but no... Me watching a video for 3.5 hours doesn't even drain the battery to 0%....

I say your phone is damaged and where did you read that was normal. I have gps and wifi on all the time watch a few youtube videos run 30 minutes of google navigation and let the little one play on games for 20 minutes during the day along with 15 minutes of calls and 100 test and be at 20 to 40% in 15 hours. Brightness set on auto weather bug updates every 15 minutes and facebook every hour.

Interesting, sounds like I might have a bum battery.

If I may ask, what does an app like Battery Left or Battery Time Lite(/Pro) give you guys as an estimate for battery life?

Also, is anyone familiar with the issue about the battery jumping up when plugged in?
