i was going to buy a Motorola triumph before my parents made me switch to MetroPCS. i guess i am a Technophile and i had to have the Esteem. I have it but i cant open it until Christmas :mad::mad::mad: i used to score over the forums for the triumph and now the esteem and i have seen some people complaining about how we cant download certain games and use certain apps. i was reading an article the other day, is it true we cant use Netflix and some other apps on this device?

there was a similar case on the Motorola triumph with virgin mobile stopping downloads of certain apps or they just don't appear in the market at all. this person(link below) edited props somehow and made the android market see the Motorola triumph as a HTC Thuderbolt. Could we do something like this or is it not possible at all.

Any comments, thoughts, beliefs or ideas welcome! !!!:):):):):):)

Carriers don't usually block apps. The reason certain phones don't see certain apps like Netflix is because the phone either doesn't support the app (Ex: doesn't run Flash content), or the developer of the app only allows phones they support to download the app. The second reason is why changing the build.prop makes the app available in the Market, by tricking the Market to believe the phone is something it's not... it doesn't necessarily mean the app will work.

When you log into the Android Market on your PC, http://market.android.com it will tell you if the app you are looking at is compatible with your device or not. Netflix does work with the LG Esteem.

Hey well netflix worked good for me without any root or any build.prop trick so you should be able to find it and its ridiculous apps devs thinks this pohne is mid range or low my phone destroys my brothers $700 evo every aspect my friends galaxy s and ofcourse nexus s just gets rape and so far every single game i have ran runs perfectly

I had an EVO 4g that was flashed to metro pcs. The Evo was way way wayyyy better than this phone. camera, speed(no lag that like the esteem), size etc. However the one thing that this phone has that the evo didnt was 4g lte. But, all in all the phone is actually pretty nice for the price. You just have to configure it for a little bit to get everything right.

i have to differ on the lag. mine reboots at times but never had any lag issues at all. some may have due to loading bad apps.

I dont have lag anymore. Because I had to go through all the dumb apps that come preinstalled. That and I had the facebook app too for instance.
But I also had the facebook app on my evo among a trillion other apps and never had one problem with lag that I had with this phone.

i'm sorry to heard that, but i think this is personal-wised...
 
If everyone would just delete Facebook off their phone there won't be any more lag. Its not the esteem its the Facebook app.
 
Yeah . There needs to be a fix about these crazy apps that gets out of control in terms of memory ...

the MetroWEB sits in the background taking over 100mb of Ram, Facebook app about 30-40mb. THATS OUTRAGEOUS!!!!!!!! LG needs to do something,i i heard an update should be coming soon so i don't want to root and stuff like that yet. :mad::mad::mad:

this is my first smartphone i don't want to mess it up and im a little afraid if i have to take it back i wont be able to unroot it.
 
were is and what is this one click. :D sorry, im a noob. Also does anyone know if theres 3g in Newark,Nj area im on PRL 2019 and was thinking bout updating to PRl 3025 or 3026

Nobody is complaining that Netflix doesn't work on the Esteem. I use it all the time.

Then don't use MetroWeb. That's the stock Anrdroid browser, but just re-named. Download and install Opera or Dolphin HD and see how you like those.
 
i live right by newark. i live in new jersey west new york, and the thing is, instead of 3g i get constant 4g since my area is 4GGGGGGGGGGGGG area wherever i go.
