Help Is this the infamous data lockup?

I have had my moment for ~9 months with no major issues. Never really understood what the data lockup was that everybody refers to. I have it rooted on 2.1 with no custom ROM's or anything. From time to time my data loading got really slow, but would usually pick up again with 30 seconds.

In the past week or so, my data connection has been dying COMPLETELY... even the little "EV" symbol goes away. A fresh boot sometimes gets me 5 more minutes of good data, but then it goes away again.

I haven't really installed any new apps in the last week that I can think of. I accepted a MANDATORY voicemail update, and maybe updated a few more of my more frequently used apps like Yelp and Googlemaps. But other than that I am stumped.

Any ideas?

Try Settings/About phone/System Updates/Update Profile and PRL.
Interesting, I've definitely never done that since I first got the phone, or any time I was forced to. Unsure if there was a profile update (it just said "preparing connection") but it did find a PRL update and accepted it. Hopefully that helps, I'll let you know... thanks!

Well I rebooted after the PRL update and the problem persisted.

Since then I have "updated" my PRL two more times... but I don't know if it's actually iteratively updating, or just re-downloading the latest version over and over. Haven't done any real testing yet since the two extra updates... wondering if I should keep "updating" or what.

It updates to the latest one. You can check the PRL# under Settings/About phone/Status.

Verify airplane mode settings.

If the problem continues to persist and occurs frequently, it could be hardware or the tower. Talk to Sprint. Note: Only Hero or Intercept may be offered as replacement.

PRL is ver 60674.

While I was verifying airplane settings as you said (even though I knew they were fine), I recalled something else... I turned on wi-fi about a week ago for some reason (but have not actually regularly been connecting to any networks). Theoretically I would think that should not have anything to do with my problem... but it IS strange that seems to coincide with it time-wise. So I turned off wi-fi and will see if that helps...

That is it. On the Moment the infamous data lock-up happens after using wi-fi.

PRL is up to date.

Yeh, shame on me since I think I remember reading that long ago.

Anyway, using it fine now with wi-fi turned off. Sorry for the stupid thread. Thanks for your help!
