Yes I'm quoting myself. I seem to be able to place calls but not recieve them. I think it's because I need to set Google Chat or Google Talk or something as my phone. Gonna see if that changes anything.

With my PayPal account, I'm able to transfer PayPal money to my checking account and vice versa... Only hassle is it takes 2 or 3 business days for it to transfer.

Got the Google Voice/Sipdroid thing to work and I can now make and receive calls until I get this back up and running normal.....or should I even bother? I only ever call or text my girlfriend while shes at work and everything else I can do with wifi, including calling now. Why pay 50 bucks? lol
So am I to understand that if you have wifi this phone will connect and let you transfer data even if you dont have a cell phone plan? Or does this only work in the time period between you not being able to make regular calls and the line being shut off altogehter?

This is a good question and I wish I had an answer for it. I have old cellphones that on some, if turned on, won't even let me get to the main screen because it can not connect to an active account.
So if service on my Optimus M get terminated entirely, there may be a chance I won't be able to use it for anything but a paperweight.
Aside from that, if it does still work it'll be like a ipod touch only not because Android rules and iOS not so much.

Unfortunately (<-- is that spelled right ) Almost all metro branding is gone the overclocked kernel is being incorporated home launcher is changing from the lg stock home to adw or the the stock froyo it's still up in the air. The rom has two version de-odexed for themers and odexed for those fast start ups. It's looking like a release will be this weekend. I JUST GOT A JOB!!!!!!!!! About time. Make sure you donate to andy if you can. I'm good cuz i'll be working twelves at least five days a week (please God not weekends ..... who am I kidding I'll work the weekends). Well I got to getz my but to bed five oclock is soon.

Good to see both of you guys back in action!!! Congrats on the employment (I been outta work for almost a year now!) Can't wait to see the new Roms!
Congrats on the job! I was thinking one day that I hope all of the minds around here are employed well. It sure is a shame with the obvious expertise around here that people cannot find jobs 
. Anyways nice work with the job and on the Rom. Btw, can I put in a vote for adw ex as the launcher. I use it now without any rom mods since Im just too lazy but I love it. As soon as your finished oc-able rom is done I will prolly hop in board that. Is it going to be as simple as flashing it from the custom recovery? I dont even have that either, but Im familiar with command line stuff. The only qustion I have is if I install the sdk or whatever with adb, are all those commands verbatim? I am just wondering if its that easy?

If they do use ADW it will probably be the regular (free) version, not EX. And, yes, the commands are completely verbatim, just make sure you are running adb in root (you will see # instead of $) and don't sync your phone (I kept getting "permission denied" errors and remembered that I had mounted my phone as soon as I plugged it in, I unmounted and everything worked fine)

Have you taken a look inside the system/app apks? There are no pngs in most of the apks, only .pro. There must be a modification from Lg that converts the pro to png or reads the pro for the android system to display. Just a thought!
AnderWebs Launcher has an open source project located inside the cyanogenmod.git hub. I doubt that System version use will be prohibited.

I know that's why I'm going to switch the home launcher. I got a way around it. I don't have any idea what the hell those image files are otherwise I would have already fixed the damn hump in the middle of the launcher. That launcher looks odd (and not odd in a good way). But it has potential if just fixed up a little. SOOOOOO I just got an lg optimus v. Didn't even know they were out. It's awesome

by law, all cell phones are supposed to be able to make 911 calls in case of emergency -- even if your carrier account is cut off.

Welcome back both of you! I can say from personal experience being a metro employee, and wasn't allowed to have the LG optimus at release (bastards wanted me to use the samsung craft bucket of shit wantabe 4g POS, with bloatware x50 times as bad). So i said **** them, opened a fake account, and paid up the ass for it. So i used my optimus without service for about 1 month. It works like any other electronic device, meaning you can still use its full functions except can't place phone calls (except obviously 911) through the towers. Without being able to call (which i rarely do), I just emailed people or used a chat program.

Sort of like an Apple iPhone 4 the last few months?
(antenna problems, AT&T...) I have an Apple fanbois friend who admits his iPhone 4 cell phone can't make phone calls reliably, but he still defends it as "an amazing device".

Can't you use google voice or skype to text and place calls?
Edit: sorry, just read that andy said you have to have service to set it up initially.
