Root Is wifi tether for root dead in 2.2 yes or no?

I just want to know if I use the rooted final version of the OTA 2.2 blah.blah.6 does this kill wifi tether for root? This will help me decide if I want to do a rooted update, or flash back to stock and do the Sprint OTA. and wait for the rooting process to star anew.

I don't think so. I currently have an Evo 4G on Sprint as well running rooted version of Android 2.2 and I'm on wifi tether right now! Occasionally, it will come in and go out...like I'll be using the tether and surfing the web and out of nowhere, it will say "Webpage unavailable". But that's rare, but then again, it's rare if I use wifi tether as I can't let Sprint know that I'm using it.

From what I understand, rooting disables pretty much all of the security on your phone, leaving you in absolute control over all of it's various features. When Sprint got the Evo, they disabled it's wifi feature and made it only available to those they wished, aka, those who pay $30 a month extra. However, when we root the phone, it makes it so that we are basically the developers of the phone and can do whatever we wish to its features and disable them or enable them. That is also why we can delete "stock apps" that came with the phone. At least, that's how I understand. So rooting your phone should allow you to do wifi tether if your phone is capable of such.
