Is your TBolt warm?

Got my TB yesterday and charged it completely before I ever turned it on. I bump charged it a couple times as well. Last night I had the wifi on with minimal battery drain. I shut the wifi on and went to bed. When I woke up, I still had a good 80% left on my battery. I didn't shut anything else off or change any other settings.

This morning, I went through all my apps and changed them to battery-friendly settings. Then I went off to work in Boston.

My battery drained very quickly (although I did d/l some apps and check/respond to emails) and was dead by 2 o'clock.

The phone itself was warm. Not hot, just warmer than any other smartphone I've ever had.

Anyone else notice this?

I had a similar issue, the battery drains quickly for the first few days. After that it improves (mine did at least).

In terms of heat, my TB does get warm, but my blackberry tour was definitely warmer.

This is not a smart phone, it's a computer in your pocket...

SO TRUE! I was practically hyperventilating when I saw all the stuff this beast can do. I only hope the love affair doesn't sour b/c of battery issues.

That being said, it's only been a day. My plan is to monitor the battery for ten days and then decide if it's a keeper.

Thanks, all!

mine got nice and warm last night. i expected it, I installed 15 or so apps and set it up downloading 200 songs from my Amazon Cloud (Which is awesome times 1000).

I figured it would be lass warm then a similarly equipped laptop.

I configured most of my applications to update near every four hours of more. Today, I got through 7 hours and my battery was still at 75%. I'm not going to lie, I wasn't using it that frequently since I was working. But normally with apps running, it was usually down to 75% within two or three hours.
I noticed that browsing the Internet really kills the battery but I think that's common sense since the same happened on my droid x.

I have gmail, I'm not sure if you can set that to update in intervals. My corporate sync set to update every hour within the peak hours of 8-5. Facebook update every 4 hours. Weatherbug updates every 4 hours also.

This seems to be working out so far. I guess I should add that I am rooted and am using a custom rom. However I don't know if I'm getting any benefits from the root in terms of better battery life

I went back and looked, I have a computer I built in 2001. AMD 1ghz processor, 500mb of ram, Win98SE....

So my "phone" today is more powerful than my full desktop from 2001.

Yeah my phone gets really warm. I downloaded the HTC battery app and when I open it up it tells me the battery condition, battery life, voltage, technology, status and temperature. When I am using it moderately it tells me it is like 42degrees cel. I don't know the conversion but it feels pretty damn warm.

I suggest turning mobile data/3G off if you are not using your phone at work or while traveling. Going into some buildings will hamper your 3G signal and make the phone work harder to try and obtain a signal. CDMA phones constantly search for the best signal on a CDMA network.

I have had this happen a couple of times already. I woke up one morning after leaving it on charge over night and noticed the handset was very warm. I can only wonder if it was scanning for signal all night hence keeping the phone active all night and charging continuously hence why it was warm.

I suggest testing out the app Battery Indicator for free. Then move to the paid version of Battery Indicator Pro. The app gives you battery percentage in the to left corner of your toolbox and the temperature of your battery in the slide down menu. If your battery is reaching the temperature not recommended for your phone over and over again there is something wrong with your phone or battery.

First warm day since I got my bolt and my Battery life app told me that it peaked a over 119 degrees and it said "Overheating". >.<

What was that all about? Are you rooted by any chance?

I am rooted, but I think that I figured out the issue. That damn weather bug elite app that was free yesterday just burned my phone up. I guess it was due to the constant data updates, but I learned my lesson tyvm. lol I havent had any issues at all today, and didnt have any when I streamed music for eight hours either. It was in my pocket that whole time except for the few times I responded to texts or changed songs.
