Help [ISSUE] -120 Db Signal at random when WIFI or 4G is enabled

Marka4jr

Newbie
I have noticed that when Wifi and or 4G are enabled, regardless of whether or not the connection is active or connected, after a random amount of time my phones radio goes to -120 db signal. This happens most often when the screen has been off for a good amount of time while WIFI is on.

When the phone is at -120 db signal it locks there until WIFI or 4G are toggled OFF/ON, sometimes I have to reboot the phone, and I can not make or receive calls/txts during that time. The most annoying thing is that I have no idea that my radio has locked up until I try to make a call or send a text.

I see reports under other threads where some people have the same issue, some have similar and most say they have fixed it using numerous different "tricks". I have tried the ##clear# method, I have tried contacting VM and they reset my account. I have tried updating the PRL, updating the profile, factory resetting my device and a million other little "fixes". This is my second EVO V with the same problem.

It seems to me like this is a problem with the radio code for the EVO V because if you search the EVO 3d forums people who have flashed the EVO V ICS leak report the same radio issues...

My question is has anyone else experienced this and does anyone know if anything is being done about it? Both the HTC and VM customer service reps I have spoken too have not been helpful at all. VM said my issue will be escalated to their engineering department and I will hear from them within 72 hours. I have not heard a thing and its been over a week.

Yep i have the same issue. I have a wifi lock pretty much 24/7 at work and at home so occasionally i stop getting texts and phone calls, I have to toggle the wifi connection and boom they all start pouring in.

there is no trick to get it to work.now you could do like me and have the phone never sleep but then you need to always be near a place to charge it or have a couple spare batteries with you.even doing that i still got the no service error once a day or so and had to either pull the battery or update the profile.i was also escalated to the engineering department on saturday and havent heard a peep from them.

I pretty much figured the only fix would be either a radio code update from HTC or a DEV coming up with something.. How do you keep your phone from going into sleep?

just put the screen timeout to never or if you tether like i do you can set it to stay awake while charging in the developer options.

since you say it usually happens when your phone goes into standby maybe this will help but like i said i still get the problem once a day or so

Until VM or HTC fixes the issue (if ever) you should download Signal Notification (Free) by LogicMonkey so you can have the numerical signal strength on your status bar. I check my signal periodically from my lock screen.
