Root Issue getting a HTC Desire from S-on to S-off

Gizmo1975

Lurker
I must be blind. I looked through several threads and followed several leads but I 'm just not getting to where I want to go.

I have a HTC Desire HD which I want to play around with. I am just not able to get it from s-ON to s-off.

At the moment the phone is not booting up and stops at the green HTC logo.

I followed the instructions on AAHK and got the Sdcard into gold status following the process.

Then my SDCard crashed and I had to buy a new one.

I am able to get the phone into HBOOT (power and volume down) and into ClockworkMod Recovery v4.0.1.4. So I am able to communicate with it through fastboot and adb.

My question is: What do I have to do to get it from here to a bootable custom ROM situation?

I've heard the same thing that aahk can destroy a sdcard, i don't know, i also used aahk to root may dhd and everything was good..
get downgrade, gold card, phone reboot, than start over again, check debuging and run aahk again and everything was just fine..

Are you talking about a Desire HD or a Desire? I ask, as this is posted in the Desire HD section and rooting methods are different :)

EDIT - having looked at the info you've given, it is an Ace, which is a Desire HD. I'll have to get back to you a little later (just off out)
:)

the aahk has successfully changed your main version. if you are 100% sure your phone shipped with froyo, you can run the ruu that is that build number( Shipped ROMs )

this will allow the aahk to jump right into the s-off/supercid exploit without having to downgrade first, thus simplifying the process.

if you have run a different ruu since you posted this info, however,it may no longer be an option.

Hi Scotty,

I was not sure if I my phone was shipped with Froyo but I tried it anyway since I don't care if I lose the data on the phone.

It worked. Thank you very very much!

I am up and running again. Now to be 100% sure I don't fail again. What is a good guide or what are good steps to take be able to get my phone to s-off and to be able to get new ROMs on my phone?

Thanks again!

Running AAHK from Windows seems to cause occasional problems. If you run it from Linux all should be okay. Just follow the instructions in the manual and onscreen and everything should be fine.

Yep. It all worked out great. Using the Ubuntu Live CD (I used 9.10) and follow the AAHK steps enabled S-off for me. Now I run IceColdSandwich-8.8.AOKP on my DHD. Thanks for the support. This thread can be closed :)

Thanks for posting the resolution of your issue. Hope to see you in the forums, discussing what ROM's are nice to install or what apps you should get for your newly rooted phone :)

so does your phone have the same values as those in the OP? if so have you tried to run the same ruu linked in post 7?

sorry for the delayed reply,we are certainly not intentionally ignoring you :)
