Root Issue with contacts in Cm7

[G.Dread]

In the HTC desire stock, the default contacts app allowed me to have a display name so I did not have to see "John Smith" but just "John".

In CM7, the app has only the option to sort the names but no option for display name. Is there any other app or way to do this?

That is probably a feature in HTC's People application.
I'm not quite sure about this, but you can have a look at GO Contacts (freeware).

Yeah I tried go contacts before, I think it has the same options as the contacts app in CM7.
