Issue with HTC Contacts software

Hi,
I tried to see if someone else has this issue, but it seems not...sorry if this has been answered before.

When I get a call or a message from a number that is in my phone's contacts list, the phone should pop up their name and number but it only pops up the number and does not recognize it as a contact on my phone. this does not happen all the time, sometimes it does, sometimes not. ive tried adding +1 to the number but the problem doesnt go away

I have the same issue sometimes with my messaging.

both these issues are on the HTC software. I used handsms for a bit w/o this issue. i removed it because when i would get a msg i would get 2 notifications and even when i forced the native htc messaging app to not be the dafult one, it would still pop up and because of the annoyance i removed handsms.

My friend has a t mobile android based phone and that doesnt have this issue.

It seems it is a HTC native software issue.

Is there someway to fix this?
OR
Remove HTC's crappy software and revert of android's native software w/o any issues

You could try using superdial as a replacement for the stock phone app.
