Help Issue with Vodafone update to Froyo

I have an unlocked and unbranded Desire on VF contract.

It's currently running software version 1.19.161.5.

Been trying all day to force the update through but I just keep getting the your phone is up to date msg.

Anyone out there having similar problems?
 
That looks like a Vodafone ROM going by the version number. You won't get the update until Vodafone release their own version of Froyo. In a few weeks at a guess.
 
Is there a way of being unbranded but still locked? I do not have any VF branding or logos, but do not have a non VF sim to try.
 
From the main homescreen, click the menu button and go into scenes, do you have a scene for VF? That is the only obvious thing I've seen that VF put on their ROMs.

Typically when phones are new the operators sell "unbranded" phones, which can mean they don't have an actual logo on them, but there will be some kind of identifying feature. Did you get it off eBay, or anywhere other than direct from HTC?

Checked and I have a VF scene.

Any way to update to 1.21.405.2 without rooting?
 
Anyone else on a vodafone firmware thats listed above, after searching about, it looks likely that the wait could extend well into september before voda release froyo 2.2 for Desire ota.

I have an unbranded Desire on a VF contract sim, and I received the update today:D
 
software version 1.19.161.5. If you have this software version number, without rooting and such, ota update wont happen for you as yet.

You did not have the above firmware revision chap !
