Help Issues downloading MMS texts?

Had problem again last night so it must not be launcher or Sony app.

After reading more online, seems many have this issue. I've tested many different ways and thinks its down to happening when on WiFi (even tho I'm on WiFi and data). When I turn off WiFi, it eventually downloads.

Maybe its not all phones, but stock messaging seems to have issues when WiFi is one (at least on mine).

Maybe I'll wipe phone today anyway but don't know. When I went back to stock launcher, I notice random insertion of "old" app shortcut being added to page 2, top left...only on that spot. It's app shortcut for apps I deleted already. I click on it and it says "app not installed". Something weird going on there...

If those are system apps they wont be deleted from system till device is rooted . but be careful cause if you delete the wrong system app you will have a major boot loop and need the stock zip. What apps are showing back up and are those apps showing as running apps .

Two things ...

Did you restart (power off/power on) your phone after switching back to the stock browser. If not it may account for the reason the old icon showed up.

If you decide to root for some reason to address this problem I can move this thread to the all things root sub-forum for further discussion.

Brainz, they are not system apps. they are apps I had downloaded and removed a while back.

Thom, I don't think I rebooted after stock launcher, but if I delete the shortcut, it just gets replaced by a different one...not the same app shortcut. Very strange. I don't plan on rooting. Just may factory reset. Verizon advanced tech support is supposed to call me this afternoon to see how "safe mode" went over the weekend. I only used it for a short time, but found out all this other info in the process.

But with safe mode there are no issues with MMS messages? I severely doubt the launcher will cause this particular issue. do you ever, at home and on your own WIFI have this issue, and if so is it constant or an intermittent one?

I hope your ready for the factory data reset cause that's what that call will end with . it sounds like you have a WiFi bug this is causing many problems with shutting down. There is no fix for WiFi but a factory data reset . this will clear the bug from the system and should work fine . but if it isn't I once said it can be the 4g LTE card yes that icci card can go bad sometimes .

I didn't have issue in safe mode, but I think wifi was off.
I am at home or anywhere when issue occurs if I have wifi and data on.

But the wifi will kick on if carrier data is broken . if you turn off WiFi it will still activate just till you get your big prize MMS and shut off . some people use their WiFi when at home because it SAVES DATA til when your out in the street and need it.

Correct. My WiFi is always on. Except it must not be switching to 4g for my MMS prize. It does work with a different 3rd party app (as I figured out last night).

So I think its something messing with the feature of stock messaging app.

Yes it must be cause the WiFi will carry out the MMS download and switch back . maybe a cleaning will help or shall say a new card will .
