im doing the unrooting process in the thread "rooting for dummies" and I go to the bootloader and hit USB plug but it wont pop up my SD card as a hard drive on my computer for my to copy the PCM image over

You can use a card reader to put the files on the sdcard. Why do you want to unroot?
