Root issues w/ restoring contacts and TiBu

I just flashed the BAMF Forever 1.10 ROM and went through the TiBu process to restore apps and data. This removed voice mail and did not restore my contacts. I backed up via google and when synced the contacts still were not reloaded.

Any tips or suggestions?

Make sure you sync with google right before you go to flash the rom.

You should not backup system app data with TiBu (which your contacts are) because it can cause issues with the new rom.

If they don't sync up, restore the backup you had in recovery, sync with google, flash back to BAMF and let it sync again.

1) I did do that and still nothing.

2) how do I remove my current TiBu data from the backup file?

3) Voicemail is still missing after reflashing the rom. Suggestions? is the rom just missing voicemail?

EDIT: also, you said Liquid Smooth 3.2 comes with google apps right? I am already unhappy with this rom as it is very slow.

nothings faster than liquid 3.2 man.... flash it.

i have had a TON of problems with contacts (more than most ppl i would bet)... when i got my phone, i saved all my contacts to "phone-unsynced". NOT, "google account" because i had problems with duplicates etc. i tried to backup or save my contacts to my google acct. and there was nothing. i tried exporting files to VCF format on the SD card, it ended up taking facebook contacts and other crap, got rly confusing, had almost 2000 contacts on my phone. got fed up!

if u think u lost them for good ill try to help u get them back (and synced with google) so u can flash any rom and google will sync them back instantaneously.

what i did was,
-flash back to nandroid with all contacts. go to people/contacts.
--menu->export to SD->save as xxx. or whatever
---then, i emailed it to my gmail.
----went to my pc, logged into gmail, clicked on contacts on the left side.
-----then I said "import file, vcf format" or somethign like that. all my contaccts loaded up in gmail. i realized my contacts were only saved to my phone and NOT google.

this is the only way i got it to work for me, it was pretty crazy. now i can wipe everything and google loads them up (like it should).

hope this helps

Just did that. Brilliant.

Time to flash LiquidSmooth 3.2. BTW, do you happen to know if the fixes are built in to the current ROM dl?

im really glad that worked for you. if you want to "double check", go to manage applications and find contacts, and delete all user data (delete contacts.)

then you can go to menu->acct>google, and re sync contacts. should work perfectly. now u can change any rom and it will load up. i can believe that worked for you!!!! sick--- i spent months trying to figure it out. NOTE: every time you save a new contact, save to google acct, gmail, then it will auto sync and upload.

i havent had any problems with google music stream force close, but probably wouldnt hurt to flash. i checked my market and i am running 3.3.1 (slightly older version).

what i would do:
-copy liquid 3.2 rom to sd, along with the patches you want.
--id wipe data, cache, and dalvik, then install LIQUID. then install your other zips while still in recovery. should work fine.

it is literally "liquid smooth"! hope u get it sorted out, contacts also.

btw, in regards to your comment about the other rom being slow, you will not be disappointed. its extremely snappy, and my battery lasts twice as long as ANY sense rom. about 2 days on light-moderate use. just me personally.

hope this works for you

to answer your questions, patches are no installed haha

How do you go about flashing the patches? Same as if you were to flash a rom just no formatting of data and what not?

Also, The weather app built in to the rom won't work. is this normal? What weather app would you suggest?

What does the Triangle mean next to the signal strength?

Yeah you flash a patch without wiping /data or /system. I would suggest wiping cache and dalvik cache before flashing a patch and also making a backup (before any flash really)

Triangle next to your signal means you are roaming.

Go to wireless and networks in settings. Then go to wireless settings. Make sure network mode is set to "CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto" if you aren't in a 4G area I think the setting is "CDMA/EvDo auto"

hope u got it--i think u will! helping my roommate w the contacts, lol!

cheers

I was having issues with Liquid Smooth 3.2 with data. It just wasnt working. I restored to my backup and will be reflashing liquid smooth tomorrow w/ patches. I hope I can find a theme that I like for it. Was very fast, didn't use may resources, but the weather app it came with didn't work and the data wasn't working. Also, the keyboard was bugging me.

Any suggestions for themes for this ROM?

What radio are you running? i would recommend the latest gb radio.

before changing radio, i would Wipe data, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik and do a fresh install. i would think that would fix most things. feel free to wipe cache/dalvik when flashing patches, not sure if its essential or not.

as far as themes.... they are all tyt.

my setup for example, im on ICS theme with "Minimalist (white)" adw theme. highly recommended theming ADW too! its sick, it comes prepackaged with hundred of altered icons so u pick n choose. wish i could post a screen shot of my ishhh.

i also have Stygian black (or something), minimal magic, jamt white gradient installed. I also have Minimalist Metal and Minimalist Black for ADW themes.

pretty easy to get it poppin.

post back here if you cant get liquid/patches/themes correct. ENJOY!
