Help Issues with Mobile Network since update

Lurker
Hi I am having issues stoping my HTC desire S from using Mobile Network since the update. The Mobile Network option is not selected but i am not near a wireless network and my emails and internet are working?

This is very odd and I can only put it down to the updgrade I am on 2.3.5 & 3.0 for Sense. I have tried to stop all the applications that I can but that has made no differnece. I have tried a reboot starts off ok but within a minute it fires up the Mobile network again!

Any help or advice on this would be great

thanks

To ensure mobile network is off, check the following:

Pull down Notification bar > Quick settings > Mobile network - Off

Menu > Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile network - Off

Menu > Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Enable always-on mobile data - Off

That should do it, but as well as the above you can also create a null (not working) APN.

Menu > Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Access Point Names > Menu > New APN > Name, Enter null (or anything you like) > APN, Enter null (or anything you like). Leave all other settings as they are or 'Not set' > Menu > Save

Then in Menu > Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Access Point Names, select the 'null' APN, rather then your carrier's APN.

Remember to change the APN back to your carrier if you want to use mobile data. You shouldn't really need to create a null APN, but some people use it as a fail safe, and it can be useful if you have an app to create profiles that automatically select the type of internet connection depending on location or the time of day.
