Root Issues with Rom manager

edsuave

Lurker
So i rooted my phone using Unrevoked3. then installed unrevoked forever. so s-and is off. i downloaded rom manager so i can start trying out different roms. by the way, this is my first time rooting a phone. Everytime i click on the download rom or flash clockworkmod recovery, it says "an error occured while attempting to run privileged commands" i dont know if there is another way of goin about getting roms since it seems like it would have been easier to have used an alternate method to root my phone like Toast or something.
Any help u can give will b helpful.
Thanks

Have you tried uninstalling then reinstalling ROM Manager? ROM Manager is good at first but you should get really comfortable and used to manually flashing things via Recovery.

There are a number of applications you can down from the App Market that can boot you into Recovery, Quick Boot is one of them. Download the ROM of your choice from here: XDA HTC Supersonic/ROMs everything that's currently out is there, place the zip (don't unzip the file) file in the root directory of your SD Card, boot into Recovery, (Be sure to wipe Dalvik-Cache before flashing ROM) "choose zip from sd card" option (it's something to that affect), toggle up and down w/ the volume up and down to get to the ROM you downloaded and hit the power button to select. It'll take a little bit to install the ROM and the first boot afterwards is always a bit longer, so be patient.

You may also want to consider using Amon-RA Recovery in the near future. A lot of people experience issues with it not properly wiping the dalvik-cache, if not at all.

Hope this helps.

I think you would benefit from reading this post entirely so that you at least understand what you're doing (and what dalvik cache is):

So, here's a simple thing you can start with:

1) Verify you have the superuser app.
2) Install a terminal emulator from the market
3) Open the terminal emulator and type "su" without the quotes. If the prompt changes to a #, then you have root.

Also, did you actually verify that you got s-off in hboot after flashing unrevoked forever? It is also true that you may very well have to uninstall then reinstall rom manager. I have also heard that it has issues sometimes.

Sounds like you havent given rom manager superuser rights. Go to the superuser and see if rom manager is there or uninstall rom manager and reinstall it and see if a pop comes up asking for superuser rights.

yes i verified i have superapp and that i am infact rooted because i got the "#" sign through the emulator. I unisntalled rom manager and reinstalled it. same problem. when i tried to manually do the recovery, when i scroll down to recovery and push power my phone resets and gives a blank screen stopping at the red hazard with the evo symbol. i can reboot the phone to get into my standard rom, but i cant make any changes like access d zip folders in my sd card for some reason.
