ive just put in a SD card into my G3, took a few pics, tried to delete them, then got the message about due to recent OS updates, file movements, editability etc on SD card is no longer availalbe.. WTF, why has this not had more press... so the old SD card fitted isnt really a 100% decent way of increasing storage.... i know you can root and get round the problem, but what do normal folk do??

If a stock app, there should be no problem with card edits, but third party apps are hosed now due to KitKat killing card writes. To third party apps, the sd card is read only. Lame Android move based on the lofty generic "security" excuse, but supposed to be fixed when L is released.

You can get the function back by rooting and then installing one of the sd card write access apps in Play market. There are several and all edit the same script line to allow card writes again.

Sorted, cheers guys, I was using quickpic. As my choice of gallery. I find it snappier than the default one. I'll just use the default one to edit pics etc..

I prefer Quicpic too. Any future device will need to be rooted so I can write to the card with third party apps. Apparently L fixes this, but again ART causes a big storage loss compared to Dalvik. Would prefer the option to use either one- I choose Dalvik.
