Help Issues with SMS on Galaxy S2

So I've been having a problem with my Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100M), where I am unable to receive text messages during seemingly random periods of time. Eventually, (normally the minute I send a text message) every text sent to me during that time is received by the phone, and the phone operates perfectly normally. I'm also not able to receive calls during this time, they are sent straight to voicemail.

I'm on Bell and located in British Columbia, Canada, though I'm not sure it's a service provider problem as a friend of mine has a Galaxy S Fascinate with a very similar issue.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums Maskedgoat! :)

What you are describing sounds very much like a Bell signal issue in your area which would mean that you are losing signal periodically and that is why your calls are going to voice mail and your SMS's are arriving when your phone reconnects.

Keep an eye on your signal level in Settings > About phone > Status > Signal strength when this happens. The lower the -dBm and the higher the ASU, the better. A good app for monitoring your signal strength is Network Signal Info, free from the Play Store.

Thanks, I've installed the app and I'll see if it helps, but I've experienced this problem in areas where there was service. The phone reconnected instantly when I sent a text message, which the phone had no problem doing.

The app won't help your signal... it will only tell you how good or bad it is. Make sure that in Settings > More > Mobile networks > Network mode, that you have, "GSM/WCDMA (Auto mode)", selected.
