Help Issues with wifi and with split screen

Hi everybody,

I just switched out my Galaxy Nexus to a Note 2 about two weeks ago. I really liked the Nexus alot, but it doesnt even compare to the note 2! S-Pen, LTE, external storage, but especially BATTERY LIFE are huge advantages.

I'm a long time android user and i accept the fact that the OS isn't always super stable. i call that the cost of innovation. but i'm having two issues right now which really annoy me, and that i would really like to resolve, short of having to factory reset.

ISSUE #1
I can almost never connect to wifi, or it takes forever to connect. If i go look at the connection status it will read "obtaining i.P. address" and sometimes it will say poor connection (even if i am 2 feet away from the router!). Please note that i have experienced this issue on every wifi network i've tried (at least 5 different networks). Needless to say, this forces me to constantly use and uselessly waste my LTE data.

ISSUE #2 resolved: pull down menu, multiwindow toggle
I recently got the OTA 4.1.2 update and absolutely love the split screen / multi task feature... except that this feature seems to now have dissapeared from my phone. The little tab on the side of my screen isnt there anymore and long pressing the back button does nothing... where the **** did it go?

These are my two main issues that i really want to resolve. I've obviously done battery pulls and nothing. I've done some searches and haven't found anyone with simmilar problems...

Anyone have an answer / quick fix?

thank you!

For issue #2, there is a toggle in the pull down menu for the multiwindow feature. If holding the back button for a few seconds doesn't bring it up, then check the toggle in the menu.

In regards to the first issue, I've been having that problem as well. Ever since the latest big update my wifi is crap. It works sometimes right away and sometimes won't connect at all. I thought it was related to AT&T smart wifi but it doesn't seem to be. I disabled that and it worked once. I enabled it and it worked once...? Anyone else having these problems?

Perhaps remove any wifi connections saved and either manually re-add them or have the phone scan for new spots.

- What kind of routers are you connecting to? B/G/N?
- What kind of case do you have on your phone? Remove it and see if it works any better.
- Are you using the stock wifi tools (ie - settings > wifi) or do you have any 3rd party wifi tool? (I use WIFI Manager, but I also use the stock tool).
- Do you have any battery saving apps running or A/V software running on the phone?

I have multiple, saved, wifi connections (home, work, cafes) and haven't had any issues connecting.

Sometimes just a reboot of the phone may help out too as I've had pending updates clog things up.

I've removed connections and added them plenty of times as well as trying to manually specify a static ip address instead of getting one auto-assigned. I use a belkin n router with tomato firmware that works fine with everything and used to work fine with my note 2. I use a simple rubber case currently, should not affect anything. I use stock wifi tools, but have used at&t smart wifi. It seems that both will work occasionally and the problem is independent of which I use. No battery saving apps except the default ones built into the phone. No antivirus software. I've rebooted the phone plenty of times to no avail. Any other suggestions?
