Root Issues?

Maybe I'm posting this in the wrong thread, but my wife has the LG Optimus Elite. Since she bought it, she has had issues with her wifi connection (I think). What I mean by I think is that whenever she turns on her wifi connection at school, her phone just reboots randomly and sometimes continuously, until you turn off the wifi connection. Now, what's weird is that it doesn't do this at her parent's house... it connects to wifi just fine, with no issues at all. She has returned her phone already for this issue and received a new one just to find out that it has the exact same problem. Our connection at school is secured with 802.1x if this helps?
Any suggestions?
Would rooting with a custom rom help this at all?
I'm not sure but there was an update for her software when she bought it, I don't remember if she did the update or not... will this help?

Thanks,
Robert

Use adb and pull the file /data/dontpanic/last_kmsg. That file is replaced every time you start the phone. So after it crashes, it will reboot and that file will contain a log from when the phone crashed. If you reboot it again, you lose the log and you'll have to send your wife back to school to crash it again.

That file may provide some information about why it is rebooting like that. It may be possible to fix by rooting it and installing a fixed driver.

Try what giantpune said.

If all else fails, and you don't need so many bells and whistles, go with Harmonia. It fixed a lot of issues for me - and Harmonia is just a stripped-down and slightly-tweaked stock ROM.

The wifi reboot is well known on certain APs and protocols like peap. You'll find the threads in one our both of these two forums.

Going without wifi resolves it :-) not much of a solution i know, but even Harmonia rom does it. Probably wifi chip driver bug
