Root Issuing Rooting Brand New Droid Bionic

I have had all the same problems that griznuts outlined. Can't find adb etc. My bionic is running .893. I ran the 1-click exploit and it says "your phone is rooted" It's not. I downloaded Titanium backup just to check to see if it was and it isn't. Superuser isn't installed and neither is busybox. Quite frankly every time my phone reboots it erases all the apps I have on it anyway. I have tried Pete's one click. I have also tried to manually root it (through some of the posts on this forum) and that doesn't work either. Obviously, people are able to do it so I'm thinking user error. Can someone please give me a step by step as to how to do this? I'm at a loss and I've been at this for 3 hours already and have down loaded countless files. I appreciate any help someone can give me.

@griz - it sounds like the file was not fully downloading - were you using a download manager?

@annette - did you first extract the files so that you see a folder named 1-click, or did you simply double click on the .ZIP file and open it and run the batch file?
