Root Its here!!!! 2.2 froyo for samsung transform (by Solust)

Maybe soon I'll try it, once I overcome my fear of bricking! I'm one of those chicks who will follow the directions word for word, but inevitably leave out a backslash or a colon and totally screw things up, even though I think I've done everything EXACTLY as it should be. It's Murphy's Law. I'm a Murphy. That guy totally interferes with my life!

Thank you, but I think you mistake intelligence for determination. I seriously have two watches. One for before daylight savings time and one for after. I bought two identical watches and had my son set them an hour apart. I can't figure that crap out.

I'm a retired guy with all kinds of time on my hands. I have read the threads on the SDX site several times that deal with Froyo and rooting. I printed the instructions out and crossed them out word by word when I was rooting my phone. If someone would have video taped it they could have made some money. I still couldn't tell you what any of the steps on the guide actually mean.

Understanding how to do something turns into the knowledge of understanding how it happens eventually. You'll be able to read something and know what it is right away! And also, if you have a lot of time, I'd look into studying in Linux's Android Code course, I think you would do absolutely amazing with that course, given you have free time and know how to follow directions, I think you could really benefit the SDX and Transform community! Think about it

ok you rockstarrs, you. Thank you to Vamps..
now, that said, i cannot get this froyo instal to work. ive followed the instructions, but when i get to the "apply zip from sd card" part, theres no file ther e to choose at that prompt. just a blank, empty and lonely looking white bar. what have i done wrong? im eager to be running this badboy, and im such a proud member of the rooted android and transform communtiy. (power to us) and seriously, vamps, you are billy badass for rocking this. we owe you big time. i love my rooted. everytime i need a tether, there i am. so much more power, so much more control. so much more advantage. cant wait for the future. help me thru this one guys.. thanks for your patience. first day on the forum, first time poster.

TMake sure that in the root (AKA not hidden ina folder) of the SD card that you made 1 folder, SDX and then 3 folders inside SDX, Update, Recovery and zip. You need these folders, and being more specific I think you need to make a zip folder to put Froyo in.. Oh and Guys There has been an update to the build of Froyo. Vampirefo made a new kernel that supports Bluetooth and Wifi, make sure you update that. Also FroyoRC2 is now the newest build for Froyo, Ill upload the new links and include a new guide that I will keep updated for all you guys.

yessir, this i has done. even went so far at to make all lowercase. i used a mac to download these files.. maybe that? i also went back and checked to make sure the files were not corrupted, or damaged, or incomplete. they are fine... still confused. thans for you attention in this matter, theandroid

Anytime, but I would just suggest to re-download the file, make sure its in its appropriate folder, and named correctly just one more time. Wanna try that first?

The first portion of this is plagiarized from my guide on SDX. I am going to report this post as there is no credit to me anywhere nor was permission asked to use my guide from anywhere outside of SDX.

I used your guide when I rooted my phone. It was pure genius. Anyone who does due dilligence before they root their phone will see the history and eventually be led to your thread. Not that it makes plagarism right, but I knew it was your guide. If you are ever in the Jacksonville area, I'd love to buy you a beer. Great technical writing.:)

Guide to Flashing Vampirefo Transform Kernel and Recovery

It's not just about that, though. As a 'publisher' Android Forums has a duty to ensure that all sources are credited up-front whenever possible. Our members come here looking for information, and we owe it to them to ensure that information is clearly attributable.

Anyway, it looks like this was merely a well-intentioned mistake that's being corrected in an adult manner. Thanks to everyone for that.

Much (... read All ...) of the Froyo portion of the guide listed here was copied from my original post on SDX:

Froyo

I don't really care about credit as I did no work other than writing out a step by step list with as much detail as I could. I would however like to clarify that the original version of this guide (at the time) gave due credit to all who worked on it.

This is Vampirefo's build and if anyone should get credit for doing anything on it, it should be him. zrmxp8 did moderate work fixing the portrait/landscape orientation of the phone and was the one to upload what was then the latest version of the build.

The most current version (FroyoRC2.zip and 2.7 Kernel as of Feb 6th) was created solely by Vampirefo.

Don't worry, this topic is now in the trash, and you have been given credit in my new thread with updated links.

So, I tried to install this 2.2 again. Same prob as before (when supposed to shoose froyo zip file, there's no file to choose, just a blank bar) I have re downloaded these files, doudle and triplechecked the files, and the folders, and their names are right. The sdx folder is in sd root menu, and it must be in right place,bc the backup file is being placed into the "restore"folder I had created...... I really wanna play with the cool kids

. Thanks in advance for the assists. I am really good at following directions, and I am learning A LOT from going thru this process, familiarizing myself with the console, and becomming comfortable with the idea of diy.

Any chance we could convince you to try all this with a PC? D:

Is this really a real issue? Pc or mac? I roooted with a mac. I'm gonna go ahead and do this with a pc,I'm really only interested in a result here, but I'm concerned about future issues with similar situations. Why should thiss be a. Different case? Is there a program for mac to make these processes more compliant? Sdx for mac? I know that som roms needto be handled differently by mac, as well as apk file transfers... if I had an explaiination I could bridge the gap into better understanding. Thanks again theandroid

Well with the whole Mac vs. PC thing, I'm taking a shot in the dark. I truly will never trust a Mac because it tends to have issues getting along with other software that it doesn't like. Not to mention I am insanely anti-closed-source. But getting back on topic, when your done doing over all this with a PC, post back your result.

trying to root but when i run updater i get cant open bin file.

any suggestions will be greatly appriciated

thanks everyone for making this possible

Thanks for the info and support! The froyo port seems to work great . . .

Does anyone have a copy of the Hotspot Remover fix? I can't get to it since the SDX Developers site has been down since about 11P last night . . .

Woah dude, if you used this guide you have a very outdated Froyo build. I hope you used the items I have in my recent guide.

And SDX is up, Hotspot remover is there and all.
