It's HERE! I Just got the update!! (2.1 Official)

Noticed right off the bat; Battery Life seems better. It's running much smoother now too. HTC Sense for Facebook actually works! I finally can see all my contacts as their Facebook links!! Will post pictures in a bit, I have to find the SDK app on my computer so i can do screenshots.

Now come one do you think that VZW is that bold to push out two MAJOR updates on two MAJOR phones like that.... SMH I got a feeling that we will get it this week just like i had the feeling that the Moto Droids were getting 2.1 this week so around this time next week we will be sitting on OFFICIAL 2.1

Haha! Nice try! The only issue with this is that the 2.1 update will most likely look much different than the market upgrade notification. From what I can remember, the OTA updates show up as a large window with an option to do the upgrade or wait.

I'll be doing the leak this weekend for sure if we don't have it by friday. I can't wait to show my iPhoney coworker my new and improved phone! :D
 
As soon as he said that the kernel version was 2.7.29-565a4a16, I knew he was FOS. If you know anything about the linux kernel then you know there is no such thing as a 2.7.x release.
 
I was just gonna say "What an asshole!" for not refusing the upgrade then putting in all that crap that you're supposed to put in so that everybody gets a link to the upgrade. :D

Wally! You said you were joking too soon. Should have gone to sleep on that note. There would be fiends on here begging for their hit.

I talked to Verizon, and they agreed to send you the OTA update during the first
 
I do this thing called "Real Life" on twitter and facebook daily. It's little rhymes about different topics. Here it is for today in honor of W4lly :


Real Life: Android users, today is your day / 2.1 is out for all to play / Long wait, unknown release date / Released 4/1/2010 .. oh wait
 
What's the appeal on proving whose phone-dick is bigger with iPhone counterparts? Last time I checked, there weren't 300 threads in five months on an update that wasn't out when expected.
 
i think the 2.1 update is next week. and also the adobe flash update for our browser is this month. don't quote me until it happens =).

I felt it would be mean to drag it out. The update thing I was quoting other people who have been like, "OMG, I checked my market upgrade and thought it was the OTA", so that was a pun at that.

As far as the Kernal, I just changed the actual numbers a bit from what mine says. 95% of the people using this phone don't know and/or don't give a f**k about Linux in general.

Nice one Wally. And yes, the 2.1 threads are getting a little tedious. Everyone just needs to do the ver.2 update and get it over with. This phone KILLS running 2.1 and the only complaint I have is that I didn't do it earlier. :cool:

+1 I'd be really pissed if I'd waited. I'm still thinking the leak is the OTA or very, very close to it. So the only thing different to me would be watching how they roll it out. I have it on my SD card now and will give it to my son this weekend. And he's 2000 miles away!! Can't wait. :):)

Agree completely. If those waiting for the OTA could play with the Eris on 2.1 they would be shutting down servers trying to download the leak. The only thing I would recommend afterwards would be to dump the stock keyboard and install Swype. It's easy to learn and lightning fast by comparison.
