I don't want to sound like a salesman for P4U but the stores (or at least some of them) have received their stock this afternoon.

I have reserved one to collect on my way home..... only a few hours to wait now.... god this afternoon is going to go so slow.

Will update later once I have had a play!
 
Just called my local P4U in a state of excitement, they said tomorrow ... maybe. Still sooner than I'd expected.
 
I've got it! So far I am really pleased. It feels a premium quality device and the screen is as gorgeous as promised. Pleased with the speaker quality far better than my Byfleet desire. So many things out do I am likely a child in a sweet shop..... just don't know what to do first!
 
There might be a golden ticket under the battery! :p

I'm still skeptical (sceptical?) about the build quality. Can you elaborate more on this premium build quality? Is there a lot of give on the sides? Squishy or squeezy? How solid is the chrome lining? Is it glued on tight and seem like one piece? Many people have mentioned the backcover is cheap, but only when it is off the phone, which I don't care much about. How does it feel in the hand, when it is firmly in place that is? Does it latch onto the back firmly or is there wobble/wiggle and isn't flush? And second, how hot does it get? Spew the beans! :p

I appreciate any responses.
 
Hi Chocco, the build quality is fantastic there is absolutely no creaking or twisting and when fitted the back is a perfect fit and feels smooth round the edges. I can't praise the build quality enough. Only criticism so far is trying to edit text as the cursor jumps all over the place andhard to reposition on the screen - a definite bug!

UPDATE:

That bug only occurs with "swiftkey" when I use the stock keyboard there is no problem - I will report the problem to swiftkey.

What version of Swiftkey is that with? I love SwiftKey and intend to make it about the first thing I install.
 
Can you PLEASE download a Tegra game and tell us how it plays?? :)

Poor tegra game performance is my only deal breaker, and reviewers simply refuse to check compatibility so far!
 
My local P4U just got it in, yay! I have SwiftKey 2.0 beta so I'll be able to check its compatibility for you.

Download the Tegra Zone app (if you can see it) and get Dungeon Defenders which I know is free. Otherwise maybe just try searching Dungeon Defenders.

I'm a bit worried now actually they won't show up in the S2's market :eek:

Dungeon Defenders is not a Tegra 2 only game, also I don't think it works with Gingerbread so I don't think you will have much luck
 
Can anyone who's got the device comment on the headphones? or better still post a pic?

Never had a Samsung before and moving from an iPhone. I've never been that impressed with the HTC headphones I've received with previous phones.

I could not download Dragon Defenders through Tegra Zone as it said this was not a Tegra phone - true.
I downloaded it through the market but after the initial opening storyboard it crashes!

Sorry! Just glad I am not a big gamer, happy with quick and simple games like Angry Birds.

All the tech reviews say about 2 days medium usage and top-tier battery life for this generation of phones at least. Probably be a few days before P4U peeps get any definitive numbers, and I'm sure all the playing around with it will skew the results negatively if based on just the first run-through.
 
First day battery lasted from 8am to 5pm but considering I was off work and was using it pretty much constantly and even when I wasn't actually using it i had it playing music via bluetooth I have to say I was impressed! My desire would have given up much sooner with that amount of usage.
 
would you guy say this phone is a major improvement over... say... a Nexus S ? For normal usage not including games ? (i.e. browser, contacts, facebook integration, email and so forth)
