....at least according to my contacts list, which has triplicated some how!
I'm wondering if this is related to the way I am restoring things after flashing a new rom -- which, coincidentally I've done 3 times now...
What is the best way to restore contacts so they dont duplicate? Did this perhaps happen because Google restored them, and I also somehow restored using Titanium? and what is the easiest way to remove all the duplicates?

If they are google contacts you dont need to restore them with anything else. Are they?

Easiest way is to clear data on contacts storage via manage applications, then start again.

And if they are not Google contacts then you should switch. Export them to the SD card, wipe contacts and then import them back but into your Google account.

Cloud backup without having anything to do and instant restore after a phone wipe/reflash.

One of the best things about Android phones IMHO

check your google account to see if its duplicated them there

if it has google has a restore feature which will be able to restore from about 1 week ago.

its awesome

when ive accidentally messed up and caused duplicated i deleted my contacts on google, synched the phone then restored the ones google backed up.
synched phone
worked perfectly

just remember to export the google contacts to csv on gmail as a precaution if something worse happens

I do have them backed up to Google. And they are duplicated there too. But only two of each entry instead of three. However much easier to clean them up on the PC I think.

So once I get things back to where they should be, how do I avoid this again. Is there somewhere in Titanium that is also backing up, that I should chose to skip on the next restore? not sure how this happened in the first place......

You should only be using "Restore missing apps with data" anyway, so if titanium is restoring them you must be restoring system data (big No No)

hi CC.

maybe you are ;-)
I've had the same too. I think it happens after flashing rom and
setting up Google account. it seems to default to backup and sync
contacts. so my phone contacts and Google contacts were getting merged
and also duplicated each time too. had about 3 times as many as should
have.
so now I make sure the contact sync is off and then just restore
my phone peeps from sd

cheers
