Lookie here, the market has responded to people wanting rooted phones; no lawyers required:

Synapse-Phones offers fully rooted, customizable Android phones – Android and Me

Nice, the phone definitely pirque my interest :) I love the fact that I can customize it to how I like it! Though I might want to have everything that the phone offers. Well I'll definitely follow how the Synapse-Phones play out. I doubt it'll be offer through the carriers, so might be you can only buy it online.

Gosh, it is 800.00. Is there a market for such expensive phones?

Personally, I can't imagine spending that much on a phone :(

No, I wouldn't for a phone, but a small pocket computer, that's a different story. People have to remember that most smart phones retail $500+. When you get it subsidized, you might get it for a lower price but you're 'paying for the phone' during the life of the contract. By the end of the 2 years, base on TMo pricing, it's actually cheaper buying the phone off contract. For me, in Canada, it's even more expensive as it's a 3 years contract.

I know that bit. Sometimes I forget what these device actually do and still just refer to them as phones haha. I suppose I just can't relate since I've never bought one retail.

this sort of phone seems perfect. the only issue I would see with it would be the rom community, since the hardware between all the phones would be different it would be up to the end user to create their own roms/themes it seems. even still i think this could be my next p[hone depending on how things shape up to be.

Still since you start as Super-User access to Root (even though I don't build ROMs) I imagined this gives you a good jump start.

EDIT: just looking at the specs for Synapse they also list a "3 year worldwide warranty" ... and the options are VERY customizable.
