I've never seen or had this problem before but its bad

On the jig as long as you have 300Ohm across those two pins it should work, and you said it does put your phone in download mode, I believe it is right. Maybe Samsung changed something in the bootloader. I know there are some older ones available on the sprint section of the repository for our phone.

One last question, can you run it in recovery or download mode for a longer time without it being plugged into power? (go into recovery and just scroll through the options for a while not doing anything)
 
Crap sounds like a fault then. The only thing left I can thing of for the usb thing, is to take it to gingerbread bootloader and ROM to try the jig again. You would have to put ICS back on it, but I think the count might increase taking it back to 100% ICS stock even tough the triangle wouldn't be showing.
 
Going to stock JB made the triangle go away as well but the counter keeps rising. I saw somebody on eBay selling one for parts. He was @ 20 bids & $60 as of last night. I might be able to recoup some out of it at least
 
If it has a working mainboard with a clean boot serial number you could do a simple handset change out on the Boost site once you get yours going with the parts from it. Otherwise it would be using your phone's number as the donor.

I was thinking more all long the lines of actually selling mine for parts to somebody
