Help Jelly Bean discussion/issues thread (released Dec. 13)

Hi guys. I am having a weird Chrome app issue that I don't believe anyone else has reported. I believe this started after the Jelly Bean update. What's happening is when I go to Google.com, I'm getting "Precise location unavailable" below Restaurants, Coffee, Bars etc. This is only happening with the Chrome browser. All other browsers I tested (stock, Dolphin, Firefox etc.) show the correct location and the blue dot. In the Chrome browser I get that message along with a grey dot. I tested my Maps app and it seems everything's working fine (location is correctly detected). I ended up doing a factory reset, and to my surprise Chrome is still not able to detect my location. I tested Chrome on my Nexus 7 tablet, and my friend's Samsung Galaxy SIII, and of course it works fine. I tested Chrome before and after the latest Maps update and same issue with my phone. Is anyone else seeing this behavior with Chrome? If not, how come I'm still having this issue with the Chrome app after a factory reset? How come all other browsers are working fine?

Sounds hardware wise your fine, cuz other apps are working fine. When you pull up Google chrome, I would hit the menu button>settings>advance settings>click allow for location.
I know sometimes specially after an update you need to redo giving permission to allow chrome to locate your position. (atleast I did.) Hope this helps.

Is anybody else having issues with what I can only call "Skipping" when you play music? I am using headphones so it's not a blue tooth issue. It happens on streaming or stored music. Spotify, Google music and Amazon. it's driving me crazy. I am almost to the point of dusting off my ipod for music. Is it only me?

Hearing crickets on getting a fix out for the proximity sensor and random battery heat up/battery life issues. Wonder when we will see something? Those are the only issues I'm having at this point. That said, my wife's battery is still lasting days but she has not added any apps, completely stock and little email. She does use the GPS regularly though and loves it.

Unfortunately with multiple companies involved in pushing an update it can take a long time.

I ran stock unrooted for about a week last week before I couldn't take the prox bug anymore. I

I got my Evo replaced for the random battery heatup issues a while back. I was able to reproduce it in the store and they swapped it on the spot. Seemed to happen when the GPS was on. Maybe a new phone with JB may not have the same problem with the proximity sensor. My new phone has neither problem. I'm still trying to figure out why voicemails do not play over my bluetooth in the car any longer?!?!? Hmmmmm

Google introduced a new bluetooth stack in jellybean and it's.... Buggy to say the least

How exactly has Jelly Bean made your phone /less/ useful?

I don't really feel like I gained anything. Had to do a factory data reset which is a pain in the but, my prox sensor doesn't work still, my phone thinks its charging when it isn't and discharges the phone more quickly(like in 2 hours). I have to restart it when I notice it thinks its charging. I have random shutdowns now.

Yes I have complained to HTC, and did what they told me to do.

I'm thinking about rooting, but if there is something physically wrong with my phone I'm worried about warrantee issues.

I'm not sure that has anything to do with the update. It included many improvements, but those sound more like a hardware issue. I mean, I haven't experienced any of them, myself.

My phone did get hot after the update. I had it charging during the update and after it rebooted and was updated, it went through a seemingly endless Syncronization (sync icon in the notification bar) which I determined was happening for the Google Account/Internet section, which I did not even have checked to Sync.

I went through all my account settings and ensure nothing was set to sync that I didn't want to sync and powered off the phone for the final charge to "green"

The phone got cooler and I will be powering it up soon.

It got hot similar to how it gets if you have it charging, GPS on and working, along with Google Maps pulling from the internet.

The prox sensor is known to be related to the JB update.

There is a new update available today, that includes lots of fixes/updates.

Supposedly it fixes the issues with the proximity sensor, so go forth and update (do a manual check to get it today if you haven't gotten a notification yet) and enjoy the fixes!

I just upgraded to Jellybean and now this widget seems to be gone! Did they remove it with the update? Why would they do that??

Any suggestions for what to do instead?

I went with the big one and resized it down . Not the same, but doesn't waste a full screen either

I tried this after I read that you can resize them, but it only resizes vertically, so it still can't be made into a column. I liked having it on the right side of the screen, so when I scrolled over to it (the first panel to the left of Home), I could reach all the contacts with my thumb.

Oh well....

Edit: Just using direct dial shortcuts for now, but it's much less efficient since you have to manually add each one, rather than label the contacts for use in the widget.

After updating to Jelly Bean, I've noticed that the caller ID images I use for my contacts are showing the wrong pictures of people. It doesn't happen in the People widget, but it happens on the lock screen when I have the lockscreen set to show People. I've checked the images in the People app and everything is correct, so I don't know how to change what's being shown on the lock screen.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Anyone else having issues with Google Navigation crashing? Since update Google nav crashes with "Sorry Google maps has stopped" and then a prompt pops up asking if I would like to send a error report.

I been holding out to see if a update on play store to resolve the problem but no such luck :(

I still have not updated to JB or the latest MR, but I have seen reports on Sprint forums of others with this issue. It is not happening to every handset, but it seems to be an issue.

This is going to be more with Google rather than with Sprint/HTC.

You should submit a ticket to the google forums. There are probably quite a few people who have already posted on the google forums.
