Jelly Bean Email Notifications

Zoblots

Lurker
I upgraded my AT&T S3 to Jelly Bean last week and there is something I don't like about the email notifications. In ICS, when I had a new email, I was able to click on the notification window and then click on the email to be taken to my inbox. Now with Jelly Bean, the notification window displays the first email and when I click on it, I am automatically taken to that email. Is there any setting to change this so I am taken to my inbox instead of the first unread email?

Thanks!

That doesnt happen with me mate. If theres only one email then yeah it takes me directly to it but if theres more than one, it takes me to inbox

While i don't have the problem you are describing I do have another problem with email that started once i upgraded to JB. I no longer get email notifications at all. The only way i can tell if i have a email is to open my email account and click the sync icon in the upper right hand corner.

I have several email accounts so i have to open each email account and click the sync incon on each account one at a time just to find out if i have a email from that account.

I've tried deleting the email account and re-adding it but nothing seems to work.

I use the phones stock email (not the gmail app) and have 5 diffrent email accounts setup.

I never had this problem until the JB update for my GS3

Anyone else having this issue or have a idea how to fix it?

Check to make sure Notification is turned on. The JB update has a problem with turning it off on a new install.

I made sure "Notify me when email arrives" was checked under general settings but i still have to manually go and check each account to find out if i have a email which really sucks.

any other ideas?

No I mean the main notification in Settings for the phone. Go into Settings scroll down to Accounts and tap Google. Now tap on your E-Mail address and make sure Sync is turned on there.

Oh no i have auto-sync turned off and have had that setting turned off on every smart phone i've owned. Before JB update I received my emails like normal. It wasn't until JB that i started having this issue.

With that off it will not sync, sorry.

Don't see why? I've never had auto sync turned on with any smart phone I've owned (one of the 1st settings I turn off to save battery life). Up until JB update on my S3 I always got notifications when I received a email.

Any other ideas?

Did you find a solution for this? I'm having the same issue on my Droid MAXX. Before I updated to Jelly Bean, I would get notifications letting me know I received any email by having the little green light flash on my phone. I don't have a ring or vibrate on because it'd always go off with my corporate account on here. Now, I don't get any type of notifications, and like you, I have to go into my email folder to see if I have any emails.

Nope still haven't found a fix for this issue. I still have to go into each email account one at a time and click sync in order to find out if i have a email.
