the difference is that FK23 is Jelly Bean and FG31 is the origional ICS that the phone came with. Jelly Bean includes things like Google Now.

FL04 modem and kernel are up at SXTP DEVELOPERS. They are on top of the E4GT like nobody else. Make sure to thank them if you visit the site. FL04 is the newest leak for Jelly Bean

There isnt a single recovery to use to flash all roms. AOKP and AOSP may require that you use one recovery, and flashing from a Touch Wiz ICS to another ICS usually requires EL26 or EL29. It is of the utmost importance to truly read the OP and understand the Developers instructions, when flashing a roms. I hope this helps, READ,READ and READ some more. Really it takes some understanding, and you will be OK. Dont rush into flashing before you have read up a lil. These are great phones, but not if its bricked. Also make sure you are using a GOOD cable, the one that came with the phone is good but those cheapies will mess you up. Its also best to download everything to PC first, then drag n drop to sd of phone.Even then you can get a bad download. If you are doing everything right IE EL29 and its not working, download again, from a mirror if possible

Was just the MODEM and KERNEL. Thats a good sign, the rom should be up soon. I was able to download both modem and kernel, zip and tar. I havent tried it tho. Im on the Blu Kuban, the new features are nice on FK23 tried it out, but the Blu Kuban is so fast and smooth I went back to it. I didnt link cuz SXTP doesnt want us to link. Google SXTP DEVELOPERS

after you check out th FK23, and if you like blu not the ICS blue, a lil darker, check the Blu Kuban. You will be surprised, Im back on it after testing FK23. Theres a few people at XDA reporting a lil better signal with FL04 modem on FK23

OK cool, I suppose being on boost if I flash FL04 I would need to ref lash the boost MMS fix.and where would I find Blu Kuban at, u don't have to post a link just point me in the right direction. If you don't mind.
EDIT: found the blu Kuban zip. Thank you anyway.

This is a page for the E4GT at XDA with custom Roms. ANY rom on this page is generally from a dev that knows what they are doing. All the newest and best roms will be here.....................http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1284............. However these are development threads, so anyone that goes here please dont ask the devs "how to",they are for bringing up issues that you find. Be sure to thank these devs, they work really hard. Enjoy. There is a fix by Guyphs somewhere in this thread, I think for mms

The link is to a self extracting one click odin install. once you run it and it extracts the archive you run the installer put your phone in download mode (volume down and power button, then volume up at the download warning), connect to the pc via the usb cable and click the start on the odin install and let it do its thing. This is a stock rooted FK23 with modem and everything. The only thing you need to do when done is to change MMSC settings to match the ones for Boost. Just copy those down from your phone before you flash. enter the data menu (##3282#) go into others then copy down the MMSC URL, Proxy, and Proxy port, then after you flash to FK23 go back into the data menu and enter them in.

after extracting the tar file 5 times i managed to be able to install fk23 thanks its smoother on the phone. now the only issue is crapy signal compared to before (Central Florida). i see people posting about FL04 modem how can that be installed and is FK23 Rootable?

Thanks in advance

from my findings and the most trouble free way to flash things, especially if your useing fk23 and/or most if not all JB "stock TW (touchwiz) roms, is use agats latest 6.8 kernel+recovery.
I've posted in a thread how to do stuff so you'll have to do a search, but in short you use agats6.8 as a temp recovery and reflash back stock fk23 (kernel only) when done flashing everything else.

Remember that there are roms out there that are JB roms, but there is a difference in JB roms and JB "tw" roms, so you need to use whatever recovery accordingly.

A short explanation would be cm based roms (AOKP/AOSP/CM10) are all JB roms, but.....they are NOT jb "TW" roms, so you would want to use a cwm recovery with those (not agats) as agats is mainly and almost always for stock TW roms. I'm not sure what roms are stock TW roms, except for 3, that is FI22 and FK23 and FL04.

@elpapirin
for the modem you need to flash the modem only zip file from recovery, again I recommend agats6.8. Keep in mind NO rom out will flash your modem, none, EXCEPT for the stock roms, which come bundled with the Kernel+rom+modem, so in short.....ONLY stock roms will flash the modem, other roms will only do the kernel and rom only, so you will always have to find a modem you want to use.

Most all files kernel and modem and recovery can be found at this site Rwilco12's Android Repository. Remembering the above rules you should be ok. So if you want to go back to the fk23 modem and not touch the rom+root, just grab the fk23 modem zip file from that link and flash it via agats6.8 recovery.

One Clicks = PC only
Zips = Recovery only
Tar = Mobile odin and PC only
(please correct me if this order is not correct)

Mobile odin does not flash modems, so keep that in mind. Mobile odin is also not free, it costs and is in the market if you wish to d/l it. I did and it's been SO much of a life saver for me, but it's preference really.

A short how to again:
"Method 1 - The recovery way"
1: Mobile odin or PC odin agats6.8 recovery
2: reboot
3: for me it went past the Samsung screen and went black, but that's ok don't panic, count 1001, 1002, 1003, up to 1010 then hold power+vol up keys at the same time until you get to agats recovery. The reason I wait 10 seconds is so it can fully flash, because you can't see the screen as to what mobile odin is doing. NOTE: "This is for mobile odin only" the PC way you can just go into recovery like normal holding the keys down. Not sure it matters if you wait the 10 seconds but I do just to be safe....again for mobile odin only.
4: Once in agats recovery just flash whatever zips you need to ie: modem.zip, toggles addon.zip, and whatever else you want to flash aside from a kernel.
5: once you are done flashing the zips, find the FK23 or FL04 kernel zip file and flash it.
6: go to the reboot system and click it and let it boot up. It should boot up like normal, only with whatever zip file you flashed IE: if you did a modem, go to system and check your baseband, if you had FL04 and flashed FK23 back, you should now see FK23 baseband listed, if you still see FL04 you did something wrong.

"Method2 - The PC odin way"
This way is assuming you have downloaded PC odin and have it installed already.
1: Start PC odin
2: Click the pda slot and select the file you want to use (normally a tar file)
3: hit start
4: wait for it to say done and turn green
phone should reboot.

"Method 3 - One click odin"
quite simple, just d/l the one click of your choice, click the one click exe file and hit start t the bottom.

"method 4 - Extracting modem.bin"
1: Download the modem zip file
2: Extract the modem.bin file from the zip
3: Reboot into Download mode (Power + Vol Down)
4: Place modem.bin in the Phone section in ODIN
5: Make sure you only have Reboot check-marked
6: Click Start

Sorry so lengthy, but I just wanted to give more in depth info.
Hope this clarifies and helps out to understand a lil bit more

@alpha2k i will try the method 3 when i get home. i had downloaded the rooted version of fk23 but didnt know what to do since it was a .exe file but now its kinda clear to me. just put phone in download mode and open odin and click on the .exe file correct me if i am wrong. thanks for that info clear alot of questions i had. before this i had htc evo 4g it wasnt this tricky but now i see samsung kinda makes it hard for all their devices. rooted & flashed roms on prevail and ultra transform. now i own this sgs2

that is correct, assuming it's a one click, also short name is OC.
if it IS a OC, then yes.
For some reason if the phone is plugged in before you click the OC file it doesn't get noticed at all, so the ebst wy I have found is to start the OC odin file, wait till it gets up on the screen, then plug the phone in, wait for it to detect, then hit start.

I've tried plugging the phone in first and then clicking the OC file and the phone doesn't get detected until I unplug and plug back in....not sure why, but the way I posted has worked every time.

If you installed the one from the link in the post I made then you already have a Rooted FK23. I have herd some say the FL04 is better on signal and others not notice much difference. I would say try doing a prl update on your phone and flash in the FL04 kernel and modem into the Rom you have now. Odin and mobile Odin are wonderful tools. If you have trouble with your data connection you can make the phone do a reactivation process. Boost's automated process does walk you through that too (##72786#). Though it can take the phone a bit to do that so only use it if things like your data is not working.

I just found out mobile odin doesn't like FI22 or FI27. My guess is, since those are both ICS versions that mobile odin doesn't like ICS at all, but I could be wrong.

I want use mobile odin to flash agats kernel FK23(jb) from the current FI27 Agats recovery I am now, so I can flash a nandroid backup back, but with odin not working I cannot use mobile odin that way.

Mobile odin it says "Device Model not supported (or detected - check root)"

Any ideas?

NM, it works the way I am doing it.

what the freak now! i downloaded fk 23 rooted and when one click exraction three times it told me it was corrupted so then i kept redownloading and now tells me something bout ivalid md5 hash. ahhh! bros what should i do before i set this phone on fire!

I believe mobile Odin is objecting to the BST in the model number. it does support the SPH-D710 and it didn't like mine on FH29. you could edit your buildprop to report the model number without the BST
