Help Jelly bean negatives? [GSM Variant]

I've just updated my phone to Jelly Bean. To be honest I didnt see much difference in the app drawer but when I scroll through the settings thats where the difference is at. One thing that bothers me is the Search bar being grey and not blending well with the dark background. Also I cannot search in text messages when using the search. For anyone out there looking to update

Negatives for me are:

I used to only use the Stock browser, because of the awesome thumb-menu
Then I finally switched to Chrome browser only to find that Jellybean makes the stock browsers thumb menu even more awesome!

So I switched back to the stock browser, hoping that Chrome will eventually allow for the thumb menu (or at least have a dedicated button on top for going to my saved bookmarks)

I've got one of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus phones that was ordered direct from Google. I'm new to Android, and obviously new to the Nexus. It is SO much better than my Nokia and iphone phones, I wish I had made the change long ago.

Anyway, after reading what you guys have written, I'm now even more anxious to get the JB update. I've read that I should have already gotten it, and also read that it may not get to me until the end of the month.

This may be a silly question to ask here, but is there anything I need to do at my end to make sure I get the update?

(As a second question, if someone can point me to it, I'd like to read about exactly what Google did to resolve the patent issue with Apple.)

I have many more questions, but I'll stop here, and try to find the appropriate place to ask the other questions. Thanks!

Nothing much really, just make sure you have a connection to the internet and you'll be fine. The update is OTA meaning over the air so you don't need to connect to a computer or anything. You can also go to settings > About phone > Check for updates. To check.

I think it depends where you live that Google put the change across, because the patent was only used in the US so other parts of the world may receive the untouched version of the search. I'm not sure though

The patent issue is still ongoing but Samsung has gotten a stay of the injunction that prohibits them from selling, while they wait for the appeal of the injunction to be decided.

Additionally, Samsung also got the appeal fast tracked, so it will only be a few months before we get a ruling. The fact that Samsung was able to get the appeal fast tracked is considered to be a good sign for Samsung.

Anyone have success getting photos to sync to picasa or google photos? Mine haven't done this since the update, even though the software indicates that it is being done or has been completed.

Also I liked having a sort of minimalist homescreen and now it looks like the search bar thing is completely static. Anyone figure out how to get rid of it?

The desk clock is not in the alarm settings any more :( Bummer! I used that
every night. I'm not just missing it somewhere else am I?

I think that you might notice just a little drop in battery. I am not sure it my be that I am using my nexus more with the Google now feature, but my battery life has gone down just little. That is the only negative that I can think of.

I'm guessing you are using your phone a bit more. I think some of us appear to be seeing increased battery life -- though honestly it may be too soon to draw conclusions.

Wow you have seen an increase that is great. I mean yea I have been using my phone maybe a little more but not that much. I am going to keep a close eye on it and see just if it has increased or decreased.
