Root Jelly Bean Roms Lag

It seems that every Jelly Bean rom I try, the 2D and especially 3D graphics are not on par with the stock rom or other ICS roms like Mobster HD. Is there some setting to change in order to make the V 4G more compatible with Jelly Bean roms? They are extremely smooth, but when it comes to gaming, they get laggy. I've tried overclocking the CPU and GPU to no avail.

Try system settings>developer options
Then check disable hw overlays and also check force gpu rendering.

See if those help.

Hmmm... That didn't seem to do it. It's weird because the rom (Wild For the Night) is buttery smooth, but games don't work very well. Could it have to do with me having an Evo 3D the was repackaged into a V? It says Sprint on the top.

Sorry but I don't do much gaming on JB, the only difference between the two phones is the software, which by flashing the rom you've changed, hardware is identical. :D

I'm not sure. I'm on jellybean and have had no lag issues. So smooth and games work fine, even without those options checked. Is it all games or specific games?

I can play dead trigger with no lag.

I've had the same problem with this since CM roms came out. Shadowgun Deadzone can be played at normal quality without a hitch, its near impossible to play it on any CM roms on normal.

I think it might have something to do with the graphics drivers not being used utilized properly. Or something like that. lol

Out of curiosity, what rom are you using? I'd like to try it out and see if things work for me.

Do you know that .16 just came out today?

I didn't. I'm still on 12. I flashed 15 and was getting random reboots that would stick at the boot animation. Kept having to restore nandroids. Even tried a second clean install and set up all over again and the same thing happened. Got frustrated after the 3rd or fourth time and went back to 12. I guess I will give the new one a shot!

Could that rom work on the V 4G since it's the same phone as the 3D? I followed the guide to converting my phone to a 3D and I want to try that out.

Yes it should work. You may have problems with mms though.

You name it, I've used it I'm a flash junkie ;) But seriously it happens with every CM rom for the Evo V/3D. Others aren't sensitive because they play low demanding games but for us hardcore gamers it makes a difference. Back when they first started coming out with JB roms though it was WAY WORSE. Right now I'm using CM10.1 Wild for the night. It has troubles benchmarking with quadrant and I believe its because the GPU isn't being utilized properly. I'm sure it will get better but as of now we'll have to deal with it. I'd recommend playing Modern Combat 4 because the framerate is high and you don't need to overclock to enjoy the console-ish graphics.

Mobster HD seems more responsive to me. I still like that JB awesomeness. I think part of the trouble is the inability to tweak the MPDecision settings with the stock kernel. I tend to run a more liberal MPDecision set which kicks in the second core more often. I hardly EVER used both cores the whole time I played around with Wild for the Night.

We're talking about CM roms, Mobsters roms are sense/sense based roms.

I am well aware of the discussion topic :D

I've tried CM10.1 Jellybean (Wild for the Night), and I am saying that Mobster HD seems more responsive to me, noticeably more responsive.

It may have to do with me being able to tweak the MPDecision through Kernel Tuner, or it may be that with Wild for the Night, it takes more swipe to transition between pages. With Mobster, I can basically flick the screen and switch pages...with Wild, I had to really move my finger across the page in order to switch.

I liked playing with Wild for the Night, but I had to return to Mobster as it gave me more of what I was interested in.

Seems like I'll have to stick with Mobster HD. I'd love to try Jelly Bean roms in a couple months and see the difference, though, as I prefer Jelly Bean much more than ICS.

Check your CPU clock, I've had a problem or two with kernels where after you turn the screen off the clock gets stuck at, for example, 356Mhz. Even on a brand new flash. Usually I just reflash the kernel or flash a different one and it fixes the issue.
