Help Jelly Bean Stock Keyboard - Quick punctuation?!

Hi all, newbie here.

I've recently received my Note II and I'm absolutely loving it (last phone was an Incredible S).

There's one thing that's *really* bugging me. How can I insert a comma, question mark or exclamation without having to hold down the full stop key, or switching to the symbol screen? It just seems so time consuming.

I'm used to Swiftkey's genius smart punctuation and thought the stock Jelly Bean keyboard would at least have something similar.

I've googled, to no avail.

Help!

I'm also interested in whether there is a way to swipe punctuation. I currently have the Incredible S and I'm using the Swype Beta keyboard which has many swipe shortcuts. I'm looking at buying the Note II and played with one this morning and was dismayed to find the keyboard limited in this respect.

Have you tried installing SwiftKey? You shouldn't have to pay for it again. It's the only keyboard I use on all my devices.

Yeah, Swiftkey's generally my keyboard of choice, however I quite liked the JB stock keyboard and was surprised to have to pause the flow of text so much just to get a comma.

I think I will have to go back to Swiftkey. It is awesome anyway!

Does SwiftKey have the option to use handwriting recognition using S-Pen?

As far as I call tell...no it doesn't. I have to keep resorting back to stock kb.
