Jelly Bean update...?

Anyone know when Telus will be giving us the Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy Sii X...?

I kept hearing November but that's come and gone.

Not likely. Samsung is notorious for abandoning devices in favor of newer ones. That said CM10 runs like a bat out of hell on this phone and 4.2 is just around the corner.

Telus updated the site ^^ It's saying testing is pending and expected market date is February 2013. Whether they stick to that remains to be seen.

Just updated as well. Refined interface and seems a little snappier. It will be interesting to see what the battery life is like. So far I like it :)

so,......where and how do you get the update??
Thanks

Download and install Samsung Kies, plug in your phone and from there its pretty much a few clicks away. Remember to backup your phone first.

Wish Samsung had an over the air update option!

Too add; the JB update is a little flakey in some areas. I have no SD card and was shown a msg saying I have limited space. 11GB free atm. I had to reboot 2x too stop that warning. Seems a little slower too. Battery life is about the same.

I did the update and lost the "Task Manager" icon?
How do I get it back?
Thanks

PS. So far the update is much nicer than the stock phone. There is a bit of a learning curve only because it's like having a new phone!!!

Greetings:

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 X, but I'm still on Android 2.3.

Everyone who has upgraded to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean on their
Samsung Galaxy S2 X, can you inform us if the battery lasts longer?

I am very patient before I will upgrade my Android OS on my smartphone.

For me features like:
1) bluetooth
2) App compatibility
3) better battery life

must work before I upgrade.

So is battery life better, when you've upgraded to Android 4.1.2?

Regards Robert

THAT'S A GOOD QUESTION,....................I play with the phone more since the update so I cannot answer that!!

I liked GB 2.3.5. It was faster on the same S2X hardware than ICS or JB. GB by comparison is not as feature rich or as secure as ICS or JB. JB like any OS successor is going to be larger on resources, it's just the way it is. You can not expect "old tech" to run as quickly. As for battery life I'd say GB is just a hair better than JB. Not enough difference either way.

In general, show me a modern phone that can stretch into 2 full days of operation without needing a charge. Until then phones have to get plugged in every night.

When I try upgrading the firmware in Samsung Kies It says it downloads the firmware and then i get this error message "Fail to run firmware upgrade. Unknown error occurred."

Please any help with this issue....

Welcome to the forum maffydan :ciao:

Reboot your phone and computer, if you have anti-virus, disable it, try a different usb cable. Kies can be a real pain sometime.

You can also use Odin to install Jellybean. Just follow this guide.

Sorry to be annoying, but would be interested in knowing how everbodies battery life is doing, about to update mine :)

Greetings Users of Samsung Galaxy S2 X Smartphones:

If you have upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, have any of you tried

to Miracast a video wirelessly to your LCD TV from your Galaxy S2 X?

There are a number of Android Set Top boxes that are Miracast capatible with

Miracast Smartphones.

Regards Robert

Bottomline, I don't trust Telus when it comes to upgrading o/s... I went from a Motorola Krzr to Blackberry to my current Samsung SII X. With the Blackberry (Pearl) they kept saying the current and latest o/s was compatible but all it did was cause my phone to vibrate (no ring tones when it was set NOT to vibrate). According to Blackberry the o/s Telus was actively telling Pearl users to use is NOT compatible with the Pearl model and with Blackberry's help I re-flashed my phone back to previous before Telus decided to upgrade me for free.

Currently using Jelly Bean 4.1.2 on the SII X, great except for a few weird changes. Some widgets are missing, some are new, camera shutter sound is back and the damn thing chirps too.
