"Jellybean 4.1.2 update"

Is there a way to make the RAZR find the update sooner via OTA?

I prefer to get it that way and read that it's possible to do something like this with the Nexux.

I think something is wrong with the information that is out there about beam. If you look at the announcement page that motorola put out saying that JellyBean was being launched you will see that it clearly says we will have beam. So, with that being said.....we are being lied to or something else is up.

Yeah I'm willing to beat thiis until it's like beating a dead horse. I know what I read and what I saw.
What is beam and what do u use it for?

According to the link I sent earlier, the only way is to wait til the OTA rolls out to you. Sounds like you could see it in a few days.

Coyotes, can you point to the page that specifically states that Beam is available? The RAZR/RAZR Maxx does not have NFC which is required for Beam. I've reviewed the change log and there is nothing about NFC or Beam being available. I've also checked the phone and where the setting should be, it's not there. Every search that I've done on Google says nothing about Beam or NFC. If it were there, much rejoicing and chatter would be happening.

Now Beam is available on the Droid RAZR Maxx when I searched for the RAZR/ RAZR Maxx, the RAZR Maxx HD page kept coming up.

I want it, you want it, but I guess Motorola doesn't want it...

So I successfully updated to Jelly Bean from stock ICS.

I'm going to hold off on a factory reset for now to see how it runs. I'm lazy and don't want to reset everything but will if it doesn't work out right at first.

I installed side ways last Thursday and have had no problems that I can tell.

I did lose one "widget" which was the clock / weather once opened.

When I did a reset, there was very noticeable lag on the phone. A factory reset cured that problem...

So far no lag on mine. It's running smooth so far.
I was seeing a lot of lag before the update, so I may have inherited the problem from before. I was also having a couple of issues that were solved after the update and reset.

To all of the people that didn't have to reset... you are so lucky... ;)

If someone never updated their Razr to ICS, (still running stock GB) will they be able to update to JB via OTA?

I'm not sure. I'd suggest maybe updating to ICS with the OTA and then taking the OTA JB update when it comes.

Or you could OTA update to ICS then manually update to JB.

You may have to go through two updates. I'm betting that when your phone checks for an update, it sends back info about which software version is on the phone, which probably triggers an ICS update. If you check again, or if you're later in the update queue, you'll get a second notification sometime after that.

I could be wrong, but I believe the updates are tailored to specific software versions that are currently on the phone. That's why they have two updates for the JB release. One for the official ICS release, and one for the JB update that accidentally slipped out in December...

Here's the deal on that ... it has been shown to be true over-and-over ... you will do a Factory Data Reset ... it is just a question of how soon.

Without it you may appear to run correctly for days / weeks / or months and the you get problem after problem after problem.

The recommended approach ... after upgrading to ICS or JB ... do a Factory Data Reset and start your new system with a clean slate.

Of course you are going to loose all apps and data when you do it so you have to address that before hand.

I agree with Thom. After the ICS update, there were many reports of problems, but when the people reporting the problems did a factory reset most (if not all) of those problems went away...

It's a pain, but in the end it's worth the time to do it...

I'm going to install the update tonight via the link above...I can't wait any longer!

Could someone just school/refresh me on how to do the factory reset after installing Jellybean?

I'm sure it's everywhere, but I know there is like factory reset, some sort of wipe, and some other things, so I want to make sure I'm doing the correct procedure.

Also, once I put the update on the SD card, I know I can delete the file once finished....I take that to mean it won't wipe the memory of my SD card? Just debating if I should back that up before doing this.

Thanks

Click this link and select the small file if you received the xmas update and the larger file if you haven't and are on ICS 4.0

I'm one of the few people in Britain with Razr Maxx. I'm downloading the JB zip right now. Will I have any foreseeable problems if I install it? Will the fact that it's Verizon stop my phone from working with my T-Mobile (now aka EE) SIM?
