"Jellybean 4.1.2 update"

Here are my observations after loading JB...

It really is smoother than ICS. Not much, but it was noticeable. Combined with Apex Launcher, navigation was quite fast. The new notifications took some time to get used to but they do provide more information at a glance.

Google Now is a great application. Use of voice makes the phone that much more useful. I love the cards and the information they provide. I can see a lot more applications being built off of this platform.

The camera application is MUCH faster. After selecting the icon, the camera is ready for the first shot much quicker than ICS. Connectivity was the same...no issues with Wifi, 4G or 3G. It was as stable as ICS.

With all that, I have a replacement phone being sent to me from VZW. After loading JB, the phone started doing random reboots. In fact, it did one as I was typing this post.

After loading JB, I cleared everything more than once. I refuse to accept these random reboots.

VZW had no issue with sending me a replacement Razr. They acknowledged that the update went out last week in error. In fact, the tech I spoke with said the update was not supposed to go out until "next month" (their words).

When I get my replacement, I'll wait for the official update and hope for no more random reboots.
 
Did anyone who was on the .215 leak from July get the ota? I'm on that right now and just curious if I'll have to flash back to .211 to get it when the time comes.
 
You will have to revert back to .211 to take any ota. Being on .215 takes you off the update path. There are tools available for this but it does wipe your phone and don't forget to reroot or you will lose it, just like I did.
 
No update for my RAZR MAXX. These OTA's tend to be buggy from my past experiences with Samsung. A little nervous as to how it is going to go.
 
I did the manual upgrade and, though I had to do an FDR, overall it's gone quite well. Battery life on my Maxx seems much improved!
 
Being an old ROM-flashing junkie, I couldn't wait for the OTA. I HAD to flash Jelly Bean.

Three words: I. LOVE. IT.

Everything works. Everything is smoother. The new features kick butt! And, several apps that had a little bug, or things that didn't work, now DO. I loved my RAZR MAXX before, but this OS update has taken it to a new level! AWESOME!!!

Wow. I remember you from... OG DROID days? It's really that good huh? I might be enticed to manually update.

I highly recommend it! I did lose root however ... even though I had the latest Superuser installed. But I'm still glad I did it. Nothing got wiped and all apps still have all their data. I figure it's just a minor setback until I spend some time and get it rooted again, nbd. :smokingsomb:
 
Well No update here.

I got the messages on 12-24 too. even got one saying update will continue on wifi . . .

so got home, got on wifi and nothing. rebooted, nothing. recovery and reboot, nothing.

Not I check and it still says I'm up to date but I'm still on .211

With what I'm reading I think I'll wait out the OTA though.

Did you use voodoo rootkeeper? If you did, and still didn't retain root, you might still get it back using matts restore root utility. It worked for me.
This update is really smooth, almost didn't miss having root, except I was getting ads for the first time in years, and didn't like that. Got my root access back and all is well now.
 
So was this a beta test of some sort?

because I till don't have a update available - and most of what I've read elsewhere shows a Razr system update Q1 of 2013. that would give them until March
 
I should have learned my lesson with the Droid X. Now I just think maybe it's Motorola in general that sucks. I've had the same experience with my Razr MAXX. Honeymoon period where I love the phone and then I start to curse it as I get random reboots (not as many as the X) and constant memory problems. The phone freezes up and often the keyboard is rendered useless. I thought it was Swype so I tried SlideIt and I'm experiencing the same problem. I can swipe a word but it won't insert it. I'm tired of having to do frequent factory resets. I did it soon after ICS to resolve problems back then.

I've heard the Samsung Galaxy S3 is awesome.

My droid x, and my razr maxx were, and are, the best phones I've ever owned.

I will never buy another Samsung after the nexus, I don't care how many people tell me how it's do much better.

Can't really count doing one factory reset as frequent especially when it was when ics came out... It is common knowledge to factory reset after an os upgrade to rid the system of any old files that may not work correctly, go ahead, give it a try. Read around many people had the same issues as you and after a factory reset they had none.

I for one have had absolutely no issues, probably because I started on a fresh system before upgrading, like everyone should.
