jellybean update

Thanks for the help guys, I found that guide on YouTube a few days ago and its spot on!
Jelly bean works so much better than my old ics- love my xperia s again :-D

I'm still eagerly waiting on the update. Have Sony changed the way that you take a screenshot? ie made it easier, cause I always have the volume bar appearing cause I don't press them at the same time!

Yeah, holding power button gives a screen shot option.

nothing for my xperia s on 02 yet, ruddy locked bootloaders!

Nowt for me either and dont think mines locked to 02 either (mine was an early phone). will plug it in tonught

interested to hear back if JB ixes other users crashing/freezing, mines been really bad last month but held off resetting due to impending JB update, as hoping this will help. If both are available now might do an update and re-set together get a new clean phone and see if this gets my phone back so i am happy with it again!

Just download the firmware and use Flashtool as detailed in a previous post. It really is very easy to do.

JB is, IMHO, a big improvement over ICS. I didn't even do a clean install. I did, however, clear down a load of apps I never use anymore.

Finally got the upgrade and so far so good. I did have a panic attack cause I wasn't able to restore my pictures and music, but after a few minutes they just appeared.....biggest sigh of relief. The best change as far as I'm concerned as this has been something I have been wanting for a long time, the ability to delete various texts messages within a conversation by ticking a box, this is long overdue.

One thing I don't understand is why we still have the internet and now chrome?

I have just discovered something I don't like while typing this. Whenever I am typing something up I read over what I have typed once I am finished, if I have mis-typed anything I can usually press on the word and suggestions will appear above the keyboard, I then just have to select what the correct word should be and it changes. This is now not happening and I'm hoping it's just a setting that I need to amend. Suggestions appear while I am typing but not afterwards.

I went into settings and ticked spell checker, which works fine with emails and texts, but doesn't seem to work on the internet

why? You won't gain anything.

But the point is that the standard browser app takes up just 17Mb of my phone memory whereas Chrome uses nearly 70Mb of my phone memory, and can't be moved to the SD card.

So I will gain something - valuable phone memory space!

I was about to say it's on a different partition but come to think of it, it might be on the same, my desire was.

Anyway, with the amount of space you get with this phone, 70mb is nothing.
If it bothers you that much, root and remove it.

I am delighted to be using the OTA JellyBean 4.2.1 - everything is much better than ICS.

I am having a problem with Swifkey though - everytime I reboot, the default keyboard comes back and I have to manually set the KB as Swiftkey again.

According to this link the problem is fixed in 4.2.2

So question is - does anyone have any idea when, if ever we will see the next update?
Sooooo frustrating to have waited so long for an update only to need another straight away!!!

Got my update last thurs and is def a big improvement, had a couple of waits but no freezes/crashes

not sure about a few of the changes, found some fixes and guess i will get used to them (no easy ringtone picker, browsers etc) but generally a lot faster and slicker than ICS, so overall happy, and should get better with the .211 firmware too

Hi everyone, new to the forum and my first post.

I updated my Xperia S to the new version 6.2.B.0.200 and although the update has some nice features I'm a bit disappointed when clicking on SMS or to make a phone call it now has a white background instead of the old black. I liked the black a lot better, easier on the eyes and looked nicer. Is there any way to change it to that or am I stuck now with the new white one? I noticed for example the settings is still has a black theme, but sms and phone calls doesn't. Kinda inconsistent really, should all look the same.

Not without using a different dialer app, like Ex Dialer for example. Only other option is to root the phone and flash a themed version, for example, the one from ICS or Xistence Black Themed ROM.
