JKay Deluxe Settings (ICS) now out

wrong thread mate. This is discussing JKay ICS deluxe settings, not CheckROM v6 GB

anyway, as for your missing icons, I assume you mean icons in the dock bar?
If so, try creating the icon again in there
 
I installed this over AndyX v13 and i got UI errors and was forced to restore my phone. Siyah 3.6.3 installed also. I was sure i was on LPD.

Just checking Rudedawg... it was the deodexed framework version you installed for AndyX?
 
Tried a fresh install. Completely cleared my Phones memory . Installed AndyX v13 WXLPD Deodexed. Flashed the LPD Jkay framework and again , "System UI has stopped". Back to recovery I go.


Sigh.
 
My guess is AndyX will soon update his ROM to specifically incorporate JKay's Deluxe Framework, so I would hang fire and see what develops.
 
Your'e most probably right. One thing I did was flash the restore package from Jkay and it removed the Andyx skin from the Launcher and drop menu. Back to a nice big stock theme of green and greys.

i don't disagree with you about paying for apps and what jkay did when i was on checkrom was great but, and its a big BUT .....i downloaded the latest VK rom as a second rom on my phone and now it seems to me that if i don't pay for the app its going to look wrong, so ugly, this is where i get slightly miffed.I followed the advice of people to try VK and was very happy with it till the update.

I don't like being pushed into a corner and be made to do something im not entirely comfortable with, that's why i bought the sgs2 and not an iphone. Thankfully my main rom is AOKP and i just pray that "DELUXE" settings dont come anywhere near it.

VK is now wiped as second rom and im hesitantly dipping my toes into the world of MIUI
 
Totally valid point. All of jkays changes should only take effect when you install the settings app. Not half from the framework. That is indeed very wrong.
 
Are we not missing the point here?

It's not JKay's fault if custom ROM developers choose to include his free DeLuxe Settings framework in their ROM's which then means that you are left with a half complete set-up that you cannot change unless you purchase his app.

Shouldn't these criticisms be directed at those ROM developers?
 
Yeah I think that is pretty much what he is trying to say. BUT that worked alot better as an argument when JKAYs app was built in free for all. ROM devs have 2 options now. Leave it out altogether and let you install the framework and app as you choose OR preinstall the Framework and leave the settings up to you later. The latter leaving the ROM looking half finished and insisting you pay JKAY. This may well be the ROM devs thinking they are doing you a favor doing the part that requires you to actually pay attention what you are installing and letting you just simply install a Market app.

OR JKAY is extremely Devious/clever knowing full well what kind of experience you will get without both parts of his creation.

This leaves one question for me..

IF and when he releases ICS friendly themes , will these be installable without his settings app? This could potentially "fix" the look of your ROM without the need to pay him a penny. But then he could just as easily charge for that privilege too.

reading back at what i typed does seem to imply me waving a big stick in jkays direction.I`ll be honest and admit that i never looked at it from that point of view.

I think its wrong for these ROM developers to include the framework bundled in with their build. As the framework is free anyway, why bother? Leave the choice up to the end user.

One of two things could be afoot here:

1. Jkay has made some sort of deal with the devs so that they perhaps receive Deluxe Settings for free,have VIP support, beta test versions etc. After all, the more ROMs with his framework on, more opportunity for Deluxe Settings sales.

2. JKay's product is so good, ROM devs include it in an attempt to improve the look and UI of their ROM, so they bundle it in as standard. Initially its being included as "one-upmanship" over the others, but as more include it, the more the likelyhood that bundled framework will snowball as devs will not want to appear to be left behind the rest.

Somehow, I think it's probably (2.)
 
I hope Gadget Check is smart enough to realise this and leave the framework OUT of V7. Though I doubt he will.

Im going to suggest this on his forum. The ROM itself should have its own look and Jkays look as an option. Not a mish mash of Jkays Gingerbread appearance as standard with a flash of ICS in the menus.
 
Quick update... JKay has confirmed that he will be releasing the framework for the recently released, LPG, ICS update as soon as possible. :D

Considering CheckROM have been giving the "waiting for JKay" reason for not releasing V7 for the last couple of months, I would be AMAZED if they left it out now.

CheckROM have the advantage of the Kitchen PRO with its easy installable Themes. so may not be the worst situation to be in.
But yeah they better have something very special up their sleeves now.

Welcome to Android Forums Jkay.
I kind of feel like I've just met a celeb so not too sure what to say.:)
You really had no need to explain your actions as at the end of the day you've given us a great service for so long (and you still are). In my eyes your works been worth more than the couple of quid your app costs. At the end of the day life comes first so screw it, you got to do what you got to do.

Keep up the good work.

grab a cold one and join in the ramblings, would be good to get some input from a well respected dev.

can see where the good lady is coming from and if it keeps you and yours happy then stick with it, still not happy with what the VK team have done to a great rom but heyho life goes on.
 
Been on NEAT ROM LPG + JKay LPG framework and DeLuxe Settings for about an hour or so and finding it very smooth and responsive.

As this is JKay's test framework then I can find no fault with it so far. :D
