Thanks, but I'm confused... what does that actually mean? I just want it so that my graphics card is running just below 100%, as Folding pushes to past the boot clock, which puts too much strain on it, and makes this annoying high piteched whine...

Actually no, unless you have a unlocked CPU and are not overclocking it will not go passed the clock speed. I have mine at the default at 3.5 which is the speed it came with. I don't overclock just yet. Folding will use about .5 less clock speed than what it's set at. Mine will run at about 99%, at 3.45GHz.

I do not know if you can actually set the numbers for the GPU, I haven't found a way at least.

It means that the higher the value entered as the variable, the more time spent "waiting" rather than working. Try a value of 10, reboot the PC, run the client and see if it makes a difference. If not increase to 15, reboot and retest. Continue until you achieve a satisfactory balance between heat/noise and ETA on WUs.

Another alternative would be to set up an underclocked profile for the GPU using the manufacturer's software e.g. EVGA Precision which runs automatically when the client is started.

The second option is what I tried out today. Worked out pretty well - made the noise slightly more bearable too.

Woot here I am at 100 work units! With 400,000 points that places me at 9th place on the team!

Oh no, hope you cold for this team. We are going up the ranks, 6 since I joined. More members we can really move, and help cancer at the same time.

I started two new WU, but progress is at 0, and PPD is --- ? Statuses are "running"?

edit: as soon as I hit send progress was made. This new WU seems to require a lot more work, so it might explain why it took a while to start :D

edit2: there isn't a way to get smaller workunits, is there? This is gonna take me 8 hours on the GPU and a day on the CPU!

I have moved up the rank from 9 to #8 on the team! I am moving really fast!! With almost 500,000 points.

I dont know if the picture worked.

I would like to report that this thread is out of date. The links provided on the thread are no longer well, good in my eyes. F@H now has a Graphical interface that is so much easier to use than the links provided. They should send people to the new website, where they can download the better folding at home client.

Here is the better link to download.

http://folding.stanford.edu/

The "Older versions" page linked contains the warning

at the top though, so all is not lost. :)

I don't think the OP is active here any longer, so I'll try to update the links tomorrow.

edit: OP updated.

Thanks, That may help out a lot of new users that come here.

Now 300 WU and over 1,000,000 points, 2 computers running for me.

Okay, I seem to have a problem on one of my computers. The thing says that is it active, but the ETA is not available, and the progress bar is not moving, its like stuck at 1.2%.
The processor is running at 75%, so I don't know where these resources are going. Anyone have an idea?

Edit:

Its figured out. I guess it just needed time??...

Edit:
I now have 3 computers folding for me. If they made software for tablets, I'd be one of the first to use it.

I want to see more people fold for the team.

Me too. I am thinking of making this team a "joined effort." I was going to invite other Android blogs and forums to fold for our team and have their site logo represented in the banner, like this:

We would become one Android "super team" that will surely dominate the rankings and scores.

I am not sure how to go about this, since I am not a member of any other Android forums. If anyone has connections and is willing to help out, that'd be awesome!

We fell 2 places in the rankings over the last week! We need more folders!

I agree, we need more members here. There are over 1,000,000 members on this forum, but only 54 people joined, but 10 are active. I may want to try out some other similar software from Intel if I start to loose hope in the team. Not that I will ever loose hope with Android.

What If they made this software for android devices?
