Basically: Juice Defender is for people who don't know how to shut off data. If you don't have data running, it does nothing but waste more battery life and take up RAM.
That's a pretty innacurate statement. I know how to turn my data off, but I'm not going to turn it on every 15 minutes to sync my stuff then turn it off again

I can understand many reasons why someone wouldn't want to use JuiceDefender, but I don't see the need to try and talk down to users of the app. It's no different than tasker. Tasker only does things that anyone could do themselves. The point is that it
AUTOMATES tasks.
shutting off my wifi is easy.. i just don't see how having it shut off your data connection and check/sync every 15 or 30 minutes is really going to save that much?
When it kicks in and has to turn everything off and on every 30 min doesn't that use more life than just leaving your data connection on?
Your 4G/3G radio uses alot of battery. So depending on how much you use your phone, it could save you
A LOT. I don't see your point about the "kicking on and using more battery". It uses little to no CPU cycles OR Ram.
You guys realize that the default battery manager that comes installed on android does the exact same thing as JuiceDefender. It's just not as good at it, nor does it have as many options...
Edit: Also to clarify, if you have the interval set for 30 minutes, then every 30 minutes, it will turn your data on for a specified amount of time. Mine is set for 30 seconds. Then based on traffic (say you have a lot data to sync and 30 seconds isn't enough) it will stay on until the sync finishes. Then it will turn it off. So even if I round up and assume the radio had to stay on for 1 minute to sync. That's 1 minute your radio is on out of every 30 minutes. 2 minutes every hour. That means if you didn't touch your phone at all for an entire day, your radio would be on for
48 minutes out of 24 hours. If you can't see how that would potentially save you battery life you are crazy.
(Obviously if you use your phone your radio would be on more, I'm just making a point. But heck, if battery life is so important to you, make it so when the screen is on the radio doesn't turn on, then configure a list of apps you want the radio to turn on for. Now you can pull your phone out and text/play games without your data turning on)
