Root juice defender or set cpu

Sorry, I haven't. I still haven't finished re-setting up my own profiles after I wiped them.

i reckon we should start a tasker thread, get everyone to let us know there profiles and how they have set them up, i think the program has massive potential. what do you reckon?

ive managed to set up a wifi profile, quite simple using wifi near, just need to check it turns it off after i leave the wifi area, dont want it constantly searching for wifi when its off. this one will need a bit more playing around with.

Theres probably one in the apps forum.

That's exactly what Tasker does when you set a Wifi Near profile. In order for it to see if your phone is "near" the WiFi network you've told it to check for, Tasker periodically turns WiFi on and scans for the matching SSID and/or router MAC address that you've put in. To reduce the frequency with which Tasker does it, and save some battery, you'll want to get into Preferences (Menu > Preferences) and increase the 'Wifi Scan Seconds' value (for screen on) and 'All Checks Seconds' value (for screen off).

I once read in a Tasker tutorial (probably the one Hadron linked to above) that another way to get a WiFi near profile set up to save a bit more battery is to put in a Network location check as the first context, with WiFi near as the second. That way, Tasker checks first to see if you're in the network location of the place where you want to connect to a given WiFi AP (e.g. the network your phone connects to while you're at your house), and only if that condition is satisfied does it test your 'Wifi Near' condition. It's supposed to save a bit of battery since a network check is less of a power drain than a WiFi check, and in any case your phone is always connected to the network, except when you're in airplane mode. Can't say that I've tested this rigorously to see if it actually works like that, but I think that's how it's supposed to work in theory.

EDIT: Just saw that the wikis mick7575 linked to above pretty much say the same thing.

The WiFi worked well at home but as soon as I left the house and no WiFi was available it stopped being connected but it didn't recollect to my mobile data, I had to do a reboot to get my mobile data running, I'm gonna try and create just 1 profile that will do it all instead of having loads of different ones then hopefully tasker will do it in an order. Ie: screen off all off screen on, check location, turn on WiFi of near if not turn on mobile data, but I'm just hoping that my schedule mobile data will still work when not in a WiFi zone. This really is a steep learning curve, but once I've got my head around it it will be very useful.

I've downloaded the tasker files above and they do work spot on, not set the WiFi one yet. It must be all to do with the variables, when I get time I will have to do some extensive research into it all.

Like people have said its a monster of an app, but massive learning curve. Tbh I havent a foggiest what I'm doing, but managed to sort those two profiles from the wiki.

They have a google group for Tasker, where you can pick up lots of tips. Might be worth checking out

There arent really many parameters.

I just went event > Screen off > Priority normal > task > Net > data off.

Hey SUroot,
I have SetCPU(paid version) installed on my HTC Desire rooted, Redux 1.2, Manu 2.0 Havs axi 128 cfs kernel.
recently though i have seen that the mobile data randomly goes away even when it should have been normally available..is this any problem with setCPU trying to block it for whatever reasons?

I have screen on profile min 384 max 1036..on demand
screen off 422 smart ass..]

missing my bus cos the app cant access data...lol..

Thanks

Nothing to do with set CPU. All it does is set the CPU.

Awful profiles BTW. Change those immediately.

Min is fine at lowest. Otherwise you're not benefiting. Set to 128

Also don't switch governors. Pick one and stick with it

hi guys.

I've got setcpu running with min 128 etc but not seen any improvement
really. also using manu 1.4 kernel.

I'm thinking the way to go is Tasker to control my 3g as looks like this
is what is hammering my battery.
seems like it can do what I'm after which is flip 3g on say every 30 mine
just to check mail etc ?

cheers
dan

thanks :-)

would I need profile 1 - turn 3g on every 15 mins.
profile 2 - turn 3g off every 20 mins

no. You can add an exit task to the profile to turn off 3g. You can also make it sleep for x minutes before eit.
