juice defender??

Alright so i defenately would love to see some battery performance. But i see that juice defender shuts your service off every 5 minutes or some cycle that you can set to.. So during these shut offs. What happens if i get a text? or want to send a text? or if i get a call/want to send a call? Or if i want to surf the net? Does it some how register that im getting a call or text and automatically turn the service back on or what?
