July 1st = Switching to Droid Charge

Current Sprint customer with an EVO 4G - never been particularly happy with the 4G coverage (in the DC area, only a handful of places I seem to be able to get 4G wirelessly, and when I do, battery life goes to hell anyway).

I've been incredibly impressed with LTE speeds from reviews and demo'ing in store, and I've been wanting to get in on Verizon before the new tiered data plans.

So, yeah - when I saw Amazon Wireless also selling it for $129, it was pretty much a no-brainer to switch.

Really looking forward to it - I can't think of anything that will be worse than my EVO, and at least from playing with the Droid at the local Verizon store, the screen is amazing.
 
Just switched from sprint myself.

Long story short, Sprint denied my request for a one time premiere upgrade (despite being PROMISED the upgrade at time of purchase of my last phone). That, in combination with the less than stellar signal I had, was enough for me.

They wanted me to pay MORE to get the upgrade back and for the bad signal strength.... Not happening!


Couldn't be happier with my VZW service so far. Currently only a mike from 4g coverage at the airport but they've announced it's expanding here by year end. Can't wait! Fwiw, 3g speeds have been significantly faster. :)
 
Ya know... as much as people rap on Verizons customer service I have had nothing but great experiances with dealing with them. Welcome to the fastest network in America. :)

Yeah, I have to admit - that isn't what specifically made me willing to switch, but it was definitely irritating, since I was similarly promised that one of the big perks of signing with Sprint was that Premiere status and the ability to upgrade every year (a very nice advantage for someone who likes to have the latest tech). But when they changed it to Silver and Gold and my Everything plan didn't quality me for Gold status, it took away one of the things that kept me with Sprint.

But definitely a smaller thing overall - ultimately I'm too impressed by the LTE speeds, and Verizon in the DC area has better coverage overall to have not been willing to switch now.

And fortunately with that Amazon $129 price, and being able to trade in my EVO for about the cost of the ETF, it was pretty much a no brainer.
 
I've had nearly all service providers at one time or another, and Sprint was by far the worst. I remember on 2 occasions seeing people escorted out by the police because they had such a spirited debate with Sprint about their crappy service.

I had Nextel for years and years, always liked them even though I travelled all over the country and Mexico and other places... once Sprint bought them it took about a year for that to all go to crap.

Went to Verizon, and where I live (Tampa Bay) their service is stellar. Hardly a hiccup or dropped call... never seems to get 'warbly' like every AT&T phone I have tried.

With the Charge being $129, you cannot lose. It, like any smartphone isn't perfect but it is pretty darn good.
 
I also switched over from Sprint to Verizon this weekend. I was really impressed with Verizon's LTE speeds compared to what I was getting on 4G with Sprint. I would see 3-6Mbs on Sprint 4G and coverage was spotty in many areas. With Verizon's LTE, I'm easily seeing 12Mbs consistently everywhere I've been.

I swapped out my day one Evo 4G for the Samsung Droid Charge so I could also get in on the unlimited Verizon data before 7/7. The Charge has been really nice so far. The screen is awesome and LTE speeds are great. I was hoping for dual core, but that will have to wait. The new TouchWiz is decent as well.
 
So, so far very happy with it. I've been all over the DC area and I'm getting LTE coverage everywhere (with WiMax there were definitely fewer locations where I could even get it) - and so far the slowest speed I've seen is 5 or 6 mbps - much more typically getting at least 10-11 mbps which is just a huge increase from anything I've had before.

I'm definitely liking the Charge too - honestly even though this is a phone I was sort of "settling" for to be able to switch to Verizon, I don't think I have too many complaints. The screen really is amazing, and I actually like that it's lightweight.

So far the only issues I'm still working out for the time being probably have to do with battery life - during actual use it does seem to be draining pretty quickly, even with screen brightness set almost all the way down (that's something else I love, btw - even at some of the lowest brightness settings the screen is still nice and readable).

I also haven't yet rooted, although I would like to do so primarily to get rid of the bloatware. I don't think I actually mind TouchWiz as much as I thought I would.
 
CHarge is an awesome phone on a very fast data network and the best voice network. You are rocking the best phone/network combo. Good job.
