Root Just bought a rooted Samsung Vibrant...

Just bought a rooted Samsung Vibrant on ebay with some version of Android I don't really recognize. [edit - it's Bionix v1.3.1 by Team Whiskey] There is a navigation app on it that I'd like to keep but I'd like to put the stock version of Android on there.
If I restore the phone to factory, will I lose the root access?
Does anyone know how to back up an app so I can re-install it later? (I don't really want to lose it)

I'm total a noob when it comes to Android but I've been a jailbroken iPhone user on T-Mobile for a few years.

I'd like to go to the stock version of Android and lern it before I start using a 3rd party version.

Thanks

well if you do restore to manufacturing settings, you will loss root access and you can only gain it back by doing the root process over again. The navigation app is a stock feature so you will still have that luxury after you bring it back to manufacturing settings. That is the beauty of android phones, hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for the reply. I guess having to re-root the phone is not such a bad thing. But i forgot to mention that the nav app is Co-Pilot Live 8, a commercial app. I'd like to keep this app but right now I can't mount this phone on my mac or my PC.
I tried to use "App2SD Free" to move Co-Pilot to my SD card but it won't let me move that app. I did a backup with Titanium but I can't find the backup files to move them to my Mac or PC.

What I'd ultimately like to do is to backup Co-Pilot Live, put the stock version of Android back on the phone, re-root the phone and then copy Co-Pilot back to the phone.

Then I can learn the OS before I start geeking out and messing with everything.

try using Root Explorer and enter /data/app and copy the .apk file to the sd card (/sdcard/external_sd). if its a stock app ull find the .apk and .odex files at /system/app
