just bought a used Vibrant and have some questions...

according to the previous owner he had used Odin and CM7nightly to install the rom on this phone. supposedly he flashed back to a "stock" rom, the About Phone screen states....

Firmware - 2.1-update1
Baseband - T959UVJFD (with a google search it appears he used the XDA developers "stock" rom
Kernel 2.6.29
Build - Eclair


my questions are this....

when I do a factory data reset, all goes well, but if I navigate to the files on the phone, it appears all the "junk" from the previous rom is still there. For example, folders for and files show up for Fatbooth, PhotoFunia, Titanium Backup, clockworkmod, zedge, Cyanogenmod, WhiteSmokeInstaller, Voodoo, ScreenCapture, etc., etc., etc. There is also a ton of music that is on the phone storage that is not getting deleted after the factory reset

there are no icons in my app draw that would indicate that FatBooth or PhotoFunia or any other app is installed.



What I would like to accomplish is to have a stable rom without all the other crap that is on the phone.


I am on Win7 Home Prem 64bit, and i have read that there are some issues getting Odin to work on win7 64bit machines.

anyone care to take a few mins to help out? im not new to smartphones, but i've always kept them on stock rom's. so since i want to jump into this, i am open to whatever rom's are STABLE and do not require me to stay on top of it. i just want to flash it, have it work, and go on with my day.

Those "other craps" and "junks" are files and folders created by the apps downloaded by the previous owner. You can just delete them straight up without affecting your phone's functions. Restored to stock ROM and factory reset do not delete those.

If you don't want to mess with the phone but want it to be faster, you can try the Kies mini update route to 2.2. I'm currently running custom ROM Bionix V. Here's a guide from TeamWhiskey that you can apply to any ROM:
