While it matters less on a Lithium Ion battery, I still think it's best to leave it on the charger for 12 hours. You can use the phone in the meantime as it will take more of a charge then it will use. Just my opinion.

That's only true based on how you're charging your phone. If you connect it to a computer, then it charges slowly, but if you connect it to an outlet, then it charges fast. So you're right about that.
