If you haven't already, check with Verizon to make sure the ESN is clear. Sometimes even brand new phones can have bad or blocked ESN's...

The Vibrant is a GSM phone and uses a SIM card, as opposed to CDMA phones like Droid, so instead of an ESN you're dealing with an IMEI.

Personally, I'd be wary of buying anything from Craigslist, but that's just me.
